Default SMS picture sending

Please Login to Remove!

Just recently went on vacation and was trying to send some pictures I took with my pearl to others via SMS. I noticed that every single time i would get the red X no matter how many times I tried to resend. Now, I know for a fact that the person I was sending to can receive them as she was sending pictures to me...

My question is why would this happen? Is it possible that my picture was too large to send? I have my setting on the largest size and fine... my OS is also the latest 101 that recently came out...

Anyone?

You can't send pictures using SMS. You have to send using MMS. And for that, you need a data connection. Do you have one?

MMS
Multimedia Message Service is similar to SMS (see definition below) but allows attachment of certain images, address book entries, and other media.

SMS
This stands for Short Message Service. This is a method of sending small text messages between mobile phones, usually up to 160 characters of text. This behaves like an email, except the address is simply the phone number of your recipient mobile phone or BlackBerry. SMS is very popular in some countries such as UK, and especially popular with the young urban crowd in developed countries. SMS is also a popular substitute for email for people in poorer countries

I hope this helps.

lol - MMS is what I meant - I guess just out of habit I said SMS... and yes I do have a data connection... my only though was because I was on vacation maybe I was using another network when I tried to send them, however, each time it was on TMO which is what I go through...

So... any suggestions? Could it have anything to do with my media card settings like mass storage on or off?

If you are home now try to send one to yourself or to someone near by you so you can see if they're sending and coming up with a red "x" or if they're working.

Just sent one to myself and got the red X... tmo service and full EDGE... I'm assuming since I have the BB data plan that I don't need anything extra to send MMS right?

Your shouldn't. Mine send fine I believe. I can send one to me and it works fine. Try sending one via email and see if it comes up with a red x.

There is a filesize limit I think, but I don't remember the size. I tried some music files to my wife for ringtones and would get a message saying it was too big. These were 15 second mp3 files too.

Well, I resent the service books, took off mass storage mode, and then tried to send one to myself and it worked fine - so I guess thats all it was...

I used to have this issue as well with my 8700g. I believe upgrading my OS fixed it for good. I did notice that you are using the latest handheld OS. What I used to have to do (should it happen again) is remove the battery for about 10 seconds and then I could send it.

Default MMS images sent to me are ALWAYS blank

I read some other threads. Saw some stuff about TMo resending service books, turning off mas storage mode, pulling battery to free memory, etc. I saw something about the images being too large but if they are coming from another camera phone they must be pretty small.

Does anyone know the real fix? Is there a fix or is it just that the bb cant render the images?

My buddy sent me a camera pic from his RAZR of the pit where the transformer blew and I can't see it!!
