Default Battery Issue Blackberry pearl 8100

Please Login to Remove!

I am having an issue with my pearl's battery. The first time I charged the

phone, the battery lasted for over 4 days or so as It wasn't used heavily.

Now before charging it for the second time, I drained the battery and then

charged it again for 24 hours or so. Ever since, the battery has started to

drain very quickly even when the phone is idle, like no calls made/received,

no bluetooth connected etc. The phone is usually in complete idle situation.

The battery, now, drains by 5% for every few hours, e.g 2-3 hours. So it

hardly lasts for 2 days even when its is idle. I did realize that I shouldn't had

drained it completely. But now I am

wondering if something could be done to bring the back to normal level.

thanks,

Check if you have a lot of programs running at the same time. Hold "Alt" and press the key on the right side of the track ball will show you a list of the running programs and close them if you can. Hope this helps.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

If I'm using the internet a lot on mine I have to charge it after 8 or 10 hours...but this is my first blackberry so I don't know if that's normal.
Is it?

I did look at the list of the apps running in the background. There is nothing

other than the default APPS that run after you reset the device. Also I don't use

this BB for internet. It takes about 3-4 hours to get fully charged.

Do you think I should get a replacement?

A charge once a day for normal use is about right. Lets say you start your day at 8:00am you will need to charge around 8:00pm. thats with normal use(when i say normal I mean using the phone browser Im like a normal person would that has a blackberry) with out touching it it will save the battery for a few days. The phone calls are really what use up all your battery. ALso depending on what theme you are using some have a better battery meter than others the best way to check the battery level is OPTIONS - STATUS
your blackberry should be charging a little faster than that though so try a new battery and see if that fixes your issues

I am getting a day out of the 8100 and charge it each night. I am a 30 to 50 email/day user and perhaps 40 minutes of phone (tops).

I get around 300-400 emails about an hour of opera or web browsing and about 30 minutes of calls and I dont like to have my battery drop below 30% so around 8PM is when I charge from 8AM
