Default Can I Change My @vzw.blackberry.net Email Address?

Please Login to Remove!

Someone got a hold of my direct blackberry email address (the one @vzw.blackberry.net) from my email headers and is no spamming me directly at that address. It really sucks because if they were doing this to the gmail address that I have set as the outbound email, then Gmail's filters would easily catch it and mark it as spam, which means it would never reach my handset.

I am really disappointed with Verizon or RIM's spam filtering. From the website email webclient, I cannot even view email headers, to see where these spam emails are coming from. Also the filters suck.

So is there a way I can call up Verizon and get my @vzw.blackberry.net address changed, while still retaining all my old email in that email addresses inbox?

I would think you'd have to pick up the phone first.

oh awesome! thanks that solved my problem right there! </sarcasm>

the reason i ask is because i wasnt sure if someone had gone through this before. and even if i was going to call up verizon wireless they probably wouldnt know what theyre talking about, which has become apparent from reading these forums.

VZW does not have that bad of tech support. Yes you can call them to change your blackberry email address. It would mean that you would lose your old settings, ect ... that goes with it. Basically it would be a fresh start.

You need to call up data tech support, the number is in the forums. Tell them that you want to delete your BB web client account and create a new one with a different user name. All carriers have a BB web client admin tool to do this. They just need to log in and delete the account. Then either you can have them create a new account or you can go to the web client account and create a new account. To do this you need your pin and esn which are under the battery.

Any time you have a tech that does not know how to do it, tell them you have another call and you will call back.

Essay182,
bbinthehouse is correct. Just call vzw customer service andtell them what you want to do. I did exactly what you want to do and it only took about 10 minutes to get it done over the phone. You will have to redo your settings on the blackberry.net site since you will lose your previous set-up. That is easy as well. Essentially vzw cs will delete your previous set-up and you will need to designate a new e-mail address all over again.

BTW, I always have good luck with vzw cs. They always try real hard to fix my issues. I call them about 3 times a week to work on other employees problems.

If the only place you have the e-mails stored is on the web client, then yes you will lose them as well. VZW will delete your current account on the web client and you will need to create a new account.

I haven't tried this with Verizon since they're not one of my carriers. However, on T-Mobile and Cingular if you have some dead Blackberries around you can always transfer your BWC/BIS account to a dead device's PIN and just create a new BWC/BIS account linked to your PIN. I'd assume that this works with any carrier since BWC/BIS is pretty consistent amongst them (except T-Mo).

If you look at the BWC/BIS URL's you'll see that the difference is the argument after "site=". Cingular's is below as an example:
