Default 8130 - Loose Battery Cover

Please Login to Remove!

The battery cover is a bit loose on my new pearl. Not to the point of falling off or anything.

Facing the back of the phone, and applying enough pressure to grip the bottom of the plate with the tip of my finger, the plate wiggles in a left/right motion.

It is a bit annoying when talking on the phone because I use my index finger to hold the back of the phone up and the plate wiggles anytime I move.

Anyone else have this issue?

Jason

Mine is a bit loose, and many people report this w/the 8130. You can cut a business card in half and put it under it to snug it up a bit...

Thanks I'll give the b-card a try.

FYI I took the phone to sprint today and an associate opened up 2 new 8130 boxes and both phones also had the loose plate.

I guess RIM knew we would be pulling the batteries frequently so they made it a little easier to get to it.

Pull your battery?!?!? That is so "stone-age" for us 81xx series users....

Search for a program called SoftRest by metsfan! Great Stuff! A hard reset
without having to pull your battery!

My VZW 8130 also has the loose battery cover. It's definitely gives the Pearl less of a "high quality" impression (which surprises me that RIM would allow such an obvious flaw). I've done the business card trick and it works fine for now.

when you use the business card trick, do you use both halves of the business card or just 1/2 of it?

Half was all that I needed. You may want to trim the sides a little if you are having a hard time getting the cover back on.

There was a thread about this a few months ago. I rolled up a piece of scotch tape and put it inside between the battery and the back cover to solve the problem.
