Hey guys just wanted to give you the heads up I picked up yesterday the virgin mobile mifi and it's not bad to be honest I am getting 40kb download speed and upload is about 27kb . I am using it on my iPad and laptop . I used to tether my blackberry torch but the bettery on the torch is already bad and it would kill it when I teherd it . The price for unlimited data is 40 dollars which is not bad and your not locked down to a contract . The mifi ran me 149.99 and all in all I am really happy . If anyone has any questions drop me a note I'll try to answer them

That's horrible. Worse than an analog dial-up modem.

Well yes but for what I am doing it is great it loads all sites fast I listen to streaming music I don't watch to my streaming tv . All in all it does the job for me I mean if you need more then that you need a computer connected to cable modem . 40kilobytes is pretty good yea the iPhone was better but that killed the battery

That is 1xRTT speeds. That is TERRIBLE. Not bad, awful.

I have the Verizon MiFi and get much higher speeds - sometimes as high as 400-600kbps download.

I also have a Verizon MiFi and get 500 to 600 kbps average and in the major cities, DC, etc I am over 1.0 mbps, typically 1.2 to 1.5 down. Got 850 to 900 in Milwaukee last week.

27 to 46 is terrible. Take it back!

Wait... kilobytes or kilobits?

40kb = bad. Take the thing back.

Here's a bit to byte calculator...

Bit Calculator - Convert between bits/bytes/kilobits/kilobytes/megabits/megabytes/gigabits/gigabytes.
