New style of SMS
Please Login to Remove!
the new style of SMS in onyx makes me confused it with bbm.
anyway to change it to the bold style?
And one more thing, my signal keep on going in and off. im using .344
it seems bold and javelin's signal works better.
appreciate any reply or comment. Thank you

I don't know of a way to remove the SMS from the BBM app... others have asked.
Let's see if anyone knows a trick.
There are different icons in BBM for a BBM vs. SMS, you can tell the difference.

The why it shows like BBM is the new look, if thats what you are asking about. If a contact shows up in your BBM from a text message then un-link them in BBM from your contacts.

its not linking bbm - sms. the sms style is the problem. this make me send a very short sms like "ok", "yes", "so" so i end up sending few sms for a conversation like the way we do it while using bbm :(

If you go to Options/SMS Text you can change the Conversation style from Bubbles to Stripes (if that helps at all).

Wow. After all the clamoring over the years for threaded SMS lists, now we get it and people don't want it. I guess the grass is always greener...

The "stripes" seperator setting looks ppretty much like the "old" style to me. Personally I like the new style, just will be nice when it actually has people's names instead of just their numbers. I heard the bug fix is in the next OS.

I don't like the new style either but it's part of the OS. You pretty much text and IM in the same type of environment (they mix it)...slightly confusing as to what is bb im's and what is a text but I'm getting used to it.

Alt + S didn't work
I'm using the IM 5.0 software. Alt + s didn't do anything. Everything is a conversation now. Both IM and text messages. I switch from an 8900 which made an obvious difference of the two to the 9700 that seems to think everyone likes "conversional mode" or threading...

I called Blackberry helpline ths morning. The operator didn't really get the problem I had with converstional style. Eventually he confessed he does not text, so I had to explain how important it is with teenage children to know their agenda. "I'll be back in half an hour" does not need to be linked to my texting "don't forget your tutor this afternoon"
I would like to know information about texts - like what time someone has said "be there in half an hour". If I have replied to that text then only the time of my answer shows up!
I want to have a straightforward list not conversational style. Can we please pressurize Blackberry to make an update for this. Surely one should be able to opt out of this annoying an badly designed format. I need to know time of ALL texts not just the latest. Also, why to I have to see the last text I sent someone taking up most of the screen? When I am texting I can only see two lines at the bottom. The previous text would usually be irrelevant. I DON"T CHAT ON MY BLACKBERRY. Sorry to winge on this site but I can't believe there is no option to view texts in separate chronological order.

As recently as a couple of months ago, people were all in a tither because the BlackBerry software was so antiquated as to not provide "conversational mode" for text messages. OS 5 fixed that, and people are still complaining.
As far as seeing what time a message was sent, it works EXACTLY like BBM in that regard. Scroll up to the "be there in half an hour" message and the timestamp for when that message was sent is displayed.

You called the "Blackberry helpline"? Please pass that number along. Thousands of people would love to have it.
You likely called YOUR carrier helpline (Orange?), and spoke with a CSR there, or maybe were transferred to a RIM Tech Support specialist?
Nevertheless, the time your text was received is visible, as evidenced above.

I thought the timestamp only reflects when your phone receives the SMS message. For example, if you were flying and had your phone off, the text "be there in half an hour" may not do you any good since it may have been several hours before you landed.

Correct, "the time your text was received..." is what I stated.
So, threaded or unthreaded SMS wouldn't solve that issue for the poster I was answering, though.

I think the threaded texts are great, but it would be nice to have a bit more control over what conversations are threaded ......... if that's even possible.
I personally don't care as I don't text much (mainly BBM), but the option would be usefull apparently to some of the above posters.
However, a conversation is a conversation regardless of the topic.
@Randyguan:
I have not seen anything in the way of a setting to revert the SMS style back to pre-OS-version 5, have you looked into a 3 party SMS app? bChat looks pretty plain (what I understand you want) and still handles threaded conversations.
Your signal shuts itself OFF? That shouldn't be ...... I'd suggest upgrading your OS to the latest official and see if that corrects it; otherwise I'd take it back.
If you are using the 9700, kindly update your profile to reflect this device and not the 9000 Bold.
