Default 8120 shuts off at random

Please Login to Remove!

I've had my 8120 Blackberry Pearl for about 1.5 years and have had this problem of it randomly shutting off since the beginning, but had decided to live with it. Now it's happening more frequently and also happens when I am on phone calls and I can't put up with it anymore. The BB will automatically shut off for no reason, even when it is fully charged. Pressing the Power button does not turn it back on. To fix it I have to take out the battery and put it back in and then it will start rebooting which takes a couple of minutes. Any idea what the problem might be? The phone was also recently wiped as part of an enterprise restructuring and I'm still having the same problems, so I don't think wiping will help.

Default I had the same problem....

So i started to get the same problem and I researched a bit that it might be some bug.... but I hadn't updated anysoftware of anything.... Then I figured its hardware.

If you look at the battery in your phone.. there are two things in the bottom, one is the three metal plates which link with the phone for power. but there is something else... some plastic thing, i don't know what its called. For your phone to not disconnect from the battery both the metal plates and the plastic thing should be tightly snugged with the phone.. So what i did was, place a small paper at the top so it fits tightly and VOILA the problem was gone... forever...

Hope this helps.

Wirelessly posted (L'neuf trois)

Battery might also be on its way out. I recently experienced random shut offs with my device. Noticed that battery wasn't holding its charge as well as before so that was a good indication that the shut offs were battery related. Got a new battery and everything has been fine since.

Default problem solved!

rulzworld, you were right! I haven't had any problems since I stuck that piece of paper inside to keep the phone snugly connected to that plastic thing. Thanks!
