Default How many browsers are there?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi guys, I have a question that;s been bothering me for a while!

On every BB device I've had, there has always been two internet browser icons, why? One is labelled "browser" and the other "internet browser".

Sorry if this is an ignorant question.

I also want to know if I can set on to use GPRS and the other to use WiFi? Thanks in advance.

The different browsers are different routes for the data. They are:
WAP Browser (sometimes carrier titled): Goes through your carrier
Internet Browser: Goes through RIM
BlackBerry Browser: Goes through your BES (if applicable)
Hotspot Browser: Goes through your private WiFi LAN

So what is the ideal way to utilize these? I've seen places where you can specify which ones you use for different things and just wonder how this would be handy or how you should use them.

I'd like to know this too. For example, which should you set as "Default Browser" in advanced settings?

Perfect Storm explained it well.

Setting a certain browser as default depends usually on your dataplan and network accessibility.

On my BIS device I usually take the BB-Browser (BIS APN on unlimited dataplan) and switch to WiFi if my private WLAN network is available (for example at home) because its faster.

I would have to pay for traffic using WAP, so I almost never use it.
My default browser on my BES device is also BB-Browser (connection via BES).

Hope it helps a bit.
