Hey folks,

Just got my 8700 not long ago.
Removed IT policy.

Tried to install a theme through desktop manager. Add apps, chose the theme then started installing. Final step when it says "connecting to device" the progress bar is moving insanely slow as well as nothing happens.
Desktop manager says - device connected. Device manager says - device disconnected. Bbry has red LED constantly on.

So i cancelled the progress - it said - application load successful.
And there goes my BBRY! it tries to turn on hour glass on window for maybe 10-15 seconds then turns off with red LED flashing 3 times and process just repeats itself non stop!. Tried removing SIM and battery - no go.

I ended up reinstalling the OS. which brought it back to life.

Now i tried to install different theme again (black diamond) same thing happened except BBRY didnt lock itself. I cancelled progress bar for connecting to device - it said everything loaded fine, but when i go to themes - there's nothing there.

Any ideas? Maybe i'm doing something wrong.

Are you sure the theme is for the 8700? Is it for your software version?

Yes i checked it. Downloaded one for 8700, and i have latest desktop manager and OS

Have you ever installed this said theme successfully before, or this is your first time? Check to see if this theme is OTA or otherwise. If it is OTA, even when you download it to your computer, you won't be able to load it successfully since you need all the cod files that goes with it.

i'm actually fairly new to the whole bbry thing. but i flash, unlock and unbrand phones. so i do have a bit experience with that. there was an option for OTA download but i got the archive with *.alx and *.cod files. that's how i used it.

The theme contained in the 8700 zip is actually for the 8300.

If an OTA version is available and it is free, then you can get it anytime. Then I'd go with OTA, much easier to download unto your device.

edit: there is a link for the 8700 series. But as originally suggested, use the OTA

If you are not familiar on how to do OTA. Open your device browser and enter their OTA link (as I copied below), and start the download. As easy as that and you don't need to connect your device to your computer.

oh damn.. that was one of my thoughts.. i dont have a data plan so OTA won't work for me. gotta look for 8700 themes now heh.

If you don't have data plan, then use the other method of downloading the theme
