BlackBerry Bold - Release Date, Price etc.
Please Login to Remove!
Hey there,
can you tell me, when the BlackBerry Bold will release in the U.S. to which price ? According to my informations AT&T, T-Mobile etc. will bring it to different dates and different (nearly the same) prices.
I am from Germany and would like to buy it via eBay - but only if the price is about 400$ (it will be about $700 from the official sight without contract, right?).
Hope you can help me... I fell in love with this phone ;)

I've been reading its $300 through ATT.. Which I'm sure is with a 2-year contract..
T-MO is going to be priced at $350.
I also read it could be $499 no contract price through ATT at the time of launch..

Various threads, rumors and conjecture have the AT&T price between $300 and $600. Some with a contract, some without.
Your guess is as good as any

I'd be shocked if they price the phone higher than around $300 with a contract.

seriously, they have to price it aggresively to stay somewhat close to the iphone's price of $200-$300
Anything more than that, is chancing it..

no contract on Rogers/ATT will be close to $600 ($550 range) which puts new act/upgrade pricing around $350-$400.
And Mr Knight what exactly are they chancing? The iPhone sold at $600 when it came out and did well. I do not think we will see the 9000 or the 9500 suffer any at all at a high price.

I do not think they need to sell it for $200 as the iPhone people will be paying more for their plan and text messaging than their old iPhone plan which will help pay for their new iPhone 2.
I am thinking the Blackberry plan will stay the same so $300 with a contract is good for the 9000. $499 without a contract

It'll probably be in the $300 range with a contract and $500 range without a contract.

Don't count on it. While some were crazy enough to pony up $600 for an iphone, I highly doubt very many BB users will do the same.

Not true, I'd be willing to pony up more than that for a BB. I as nice as the iPhone is and as much as I like it, no way would I be willing to spend the same amount on it as I would a BB, just falls short a few key areas for me. I know many other users personally that feel the same way.

Yes, there will be some who like to be on the cutting edge who would be willing to spend that much. I was talking of the majority of BB users.

You can't really compare Apple's first cellphone with a new BB release. If the Bold were released with a $600 price tag, it would hurt sales.

eha, lots of different opinions about that-just check out the other threads. Just following the posts of those who appear to have the best 'intel' would say that sometime within the next 30-45 days.

gregg, you are also forgetting that the iPhone will be getting a more expensive plan because it is running on 3G and not EDGE. I wouldn't be surprised at all if AT&T/Rogers did the same thing with the Bold. 3G is a very expensive service to run and they will charge you more for it. It would be stupid not to from a business standpoint. Just bracing you for what is probably coming.

The latest info from InfoSync seems to confirm Sprint/Verizon/AT&T $300 with contract, T-Mobile $350. Release dates in the chart in the link.

Sounds like Burton is just upset about the new iPhone plans. They got to pay for the device somehow.
I agree with you and do not think 3G will charge more for the Blackberry Plans. Why should they as 3G will be the "standard" for ATT now.
