Default Can't get it to load on 8707g!

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a bit of a blackberry newbe but worked in IT for years but I can' to get 4.5.0.42 installed on my 8707g. I've followed all instructions posted here and elsewhere, downloaded correct files (I think - 8700, desktop manager 4.3, deleted vendor file, etc) but when start desktop manager/application upgrade option - files are not listed. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

There is no 4.5xx for the 8707g.

No such thing. You'll could end up bricking your 8707 if you aren't careful, although I don't think anything at all will happen.

What is the EXACT filename of the OS you are trying to load?

Second day with OS .42 on my 8310 on AT&T...

My thoughts:
-Battery at 65% charge after being off the charger for about 36 hours (moderate usage, calls, games, emails etc)
-Memory Leak monster hasn't hit me just as yet, still have just over 21MB of free space still (only 3rd party apps I have are, JabpLite, Mapquest Navigator, Google Maps, Opera Mini, Spider Solitaire, Sudoku, Christmas Pool, Google Sync, Gmail and Weather Eye). I also set my message to delete after 7 days
-EDGE hasn't dropped on me once (knock on wood), no failed calls or reboot issues.
-Seems to be a bit quicker from .18 (have no experience on .37) with no hour glass appearances just yet

My only issue is MaqQuest Navigator is a bit touchy at times, and Google Maps sometimes takes FOREVER to load a new screen while "tracking" your position (recently moved to hawaii and like to see where I am on GPS when just cruising around)

Let's hear it for A2DP!

My bluetooth car stereo is eternally grateful for this beta OS. A2DP works great, so far. In fact, the whole media player is much nicer in this OS.

Haven't had any other noticeable problems yet. Wiped and loaded the OS this afternoon, and spent a while rebuilding everything (apps, settings, etc) from scratch.

EDIT:
forgot a couple small problems, which I'll gladly put up with for A2DP:
1) No voicemail icon, like many others here
2) When placing a call or during a call, my home screen background goes back to the "stock" t-mo zen desktop (the blue checkered perspective design), instead of staying on my custom pic desktop. After the call is over, it switches back to the picture I set for the desktop.

I have the VM icon issue as everyone else on TMO appears to have. One other issue is that I can't zoom in/out while on the video camera, the picture camera works fine though. I did a battery pull and nothing.

Not quite, in this release it appears to be back to the old behavior of urgent. I received a text message from a friend today (with "read request") and it had the red exclamation point.

That might explain it! It was 4.5.0.42 and thread was called for all 87xx models. I downloaded but from what you say thankfully it didn't give me the option to install it. Will just wait until vendor releases it - better safe than sorry.

Thanks anyway.

Actually, just the opposite! Instead of getting 1 day life on my phone, I havne't been using it a lot, but still making calls and sending sms's and emails .... and last night after 2 days was at 50%. Greatest life ever!

Really? Well that explains why then...=P

One thing I noticed is that I do have the memory leak. Last night at midnight it was at 11,720,624. This morning it was at 11,330,623 and just now when I opened and closed the video camera it went down to 11,019,264.

I think I have battery issues as well. Was at 60% last night. This morning when I woke up, it was dead & shut.

Going to give it a full charge again and see if it gives the same issue.

I Have noticed that the Battery Life in version .42 is worse than in .37. Fully charged at 7am. It is 9:32am and its at 80% and wi fi and bluetooth are turned off. I don't think this battery will make it through the day.

What happened to my "memory cleaner"? When I first installed this OS, one of the available apps in the application loader was a memory cleaner. I installed it, and had an icon on my home screen. I actually used it a little bit last night, and it seemed to free up some memory at times.

However, today, the icon is gone on my BB. So I fire up DM, run the application loader, and it is not even an option now. What happened?

Everytime you restart your bb, the application is disabled for some reason.

Go to Options/security options/memory cleaning

There you can choose to enable it.

Thanks in advance!!!

It doesn't require a reboot. I just folder search the music folder for *.dat and delete all, disconnect and it rescan upon launching the Media app. I've also experienced soft resets that brings back my audio to the Media app. Strange little problem.

Thanks man, ever tried deleting the .dat files without connecting via usb and using the eject and insert card features under options? I think you need a third party app to see the dat files. i will test and post back.

Default Voicemail Icon

Anyone get their voicemail icon to work on T-Mobile. I had 32 messages in my Inbox before I thought to check it. I am in sales and only would check it when I had the icon. I learned an important lesson from this.

No, and it's not fixed in the next version either, I hear.
