Default Trackball feel

Please Login to Remove!

I noticed that the Trackball on my old 8830 is smooth while the one on my new 8310 has a click feel to it when I scroll. Did the 8830 do that and eventually smoothed out with use or are they different?

I'd rather the smooth feeling.

I do believe, after breaking them in, the track balls will eventually get that smoother feeling. My Pearl initially felt kind of rigid and harder to press when it was new. Now it feels better after a couple months of use.

I have an 8320 and it feels like there is sand in the trackball. I've had this bb for a while and it did get better but it still feels like sand. I took it (the trackball) apart and nothing changed. It feels sturdy though.

Actually, this is normal. The rougher one is by design to keep dirt from preventing the trackball from working. The smooth ones have been phased out, it would appear.

Yup. Smooth trackballs are out. Even the new 8830s are now being built with the rough cut trackballs.

Is it the ball itself or the housing around it? Can I take it off the 8830 and put it on the 8310?

are you guys saying that the new trackballs are the harder, plasticky feel to it?

I just bought a 8310 for myself and i felt that the trackball is much like a plastic ball. today, i went and picked up a used 8300 for my friend and the 8300's trackball has a very rubbery feel to it. Is this what you guys are talking about?

I kinda like the rubbery feel to it. Are they phasing that out or is my 8310 messed up and just some cheapo shiet?

Hmmmm....I wonder if the part vendors sell the rough ones now or if they are still dishing out the smooth ones. I'm guessing the later.

I have the same problem with my 8310. I took the trackball out of my 8820 and put it in the 8310 and it is as smooth as can be. The trackballs from the 8800 series and the pearl are much smoother. Just ordered a 8800 trackball and will replace with that. I think it is a flaw with the curve trackballs.

I have had personally owned 3 8100 Pearl's, and I sell BB's.

This issue has nothing to do with Curves, the newer Pearl's are exactly the same.

Newer Pearls & Curves have the trackball with the slight clicky feel to them when you roll them.

Yeh I thought it was just a break in type deal its not. Still feels gritty. Oh well.
Irony is I'm still awful at brick breaker.
