...and, if you have a QWERTY BB and put a Euro SIM in it, they almost always will give the message "data connection refused". I say "almost always" because there may be a provider that lets data go through on a stateside BB, but I have not encountered one that will work in two years in Germany.

A German SIM will allow voice and SMS, but no real data connection.

Why do they care? I mean... There are a great many companies that actually IMPORT americans, and give them blackberries. They won't allow QWERTY BB's on their networks? WHY!?!

That'll happen with any device that's still locked to its original carrier.

Mine were unlocked and worked on other US carriers. When I got to Germany, I took a TMO BB to TMD and they had it in the back of the store for quite a while. It could not be made to work. I bought a TMD Pearl that was unlocked. TMD was kind enough to do it upon sale since I was going to be using a TMO SIM and they were a partner. Same result.

I'd like to know if anyone has had luck with a QWERTZ using a TMO SIM or QWERTY using TMD. I would like to move devices around a little. And I am real tired of looking for the "Y".
