Default Restoring address book from 7520 to 8830?

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to restore my address book from a backup of a Nextel 7520 to my Sprint 8830 through the advanced options in Desktop Manager. The restore finishes but no names/phone numbers get transferred. I even tried to restore the entire backup file to the 8830, everything restored except the address book. The backup file says there are 205 entries to transfer.

Anyone have an idea of how to get my address book to transfer so I do not have to input them in manually?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.

Just to confirm, you're doing these steps:
- You have a backup of your 7520
- You connect your 8830 to your PC, start Destkop Manager, launch Backup/Restore and click Advanced
- In Advanced window, click File/Open and open the backup of the 7520 in the left pane
- Scroll down to the Address Book, click on it, and click the arrow pointing to the right (middle of screen).
- Get prompted for restore of Address Book database, click OK

After doing all of that you don't see anything in the Address Book on the 8830?

Correct. In the left pane is where I see the 205 entries from the backup of the 7520.

After all that nothing gets tranferred.

Are you on a BES? Is the addresss list in the right pane "greyed out?" If so, go into the device and turn off wireless sync for the address book. It's in address book >options. Then you should be able to restore the address book.

You can't select the address book on the left and click the middle arrow key to transfer the database to the device?

I can but it quickly skips the "Sending to address book" no green status bars and goes to organizing database and finishes. Everything ran correctly but nothing imported.
