Default 3G Networks - Boom or Bust?

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure if the writer and editor of this TIME ARTICLE have this correct...but I am pretty sure people here are on both sides of the fence. Moreover, some people would say "my 3G Network work great", while others would say "my 3G Network is terrible...", along with plenty of people between the two extremes.

The writer seems to be leaning more toward the "3G Network is terrible" side.

Link to article from TIME --> The Failure of 3G Hurts Apple and Its Competition - TIME

The writer says that most problems happen when several users of the same network try to use Bandwidth intensive applications all at the same time...

...Are there any myth buster groups out there that can all connect to a single 3G Tower on the same 3G Network (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. - the more the marrier) in effort to test this claim? (Make sure you start up as many 3G capable, bandwidth intensive applications at once...to accurately test the claim) I would like to see what would happen...

3g is not a big concern of mine. I have poor 3g coverage here so I just use EDGE all the time.

I went into the city not long ago where there is full 3g coverage. Honestly, it did not seem faster at all compared to EDGE

Suppose it depends on the networks, and how they roll 3G out.

Here in the UK, I live in the countyside; i get better coverage on 3G than i do on 2. - the UK's networks spent major ££ on investing in 3G.

3G is great for tethering and data cards. It doesn't make a serious difference on the handset except in cases like the iPhone, HTC Touch HD, or other handsets with a great browser.

if compare with other device, we must see category 3G of device, as iknow BOLD have 3G category 1.8 Mbps for downlink speed.

the 3g coverage is extremely good herem with one exception - a 200m radius around my flat. :D

not that much of a difference between 3g and edge imho...from the speed side.

My carrier is slowly rolling out 3G. Got a taste of it on Sunday, when I went by my parents, really didn't see much difference from EDGE, which I get everywhere else. I guess when they are completely 3G things might be different.
