Default Asurion Insurance Claim - Verizon Customers

Please Login to Remove!

It's been a while since I have posted however some lousy SOB stole my beloved Storm yesterday morning.

This post is to proclaim my extreme satisfaction with Asurion; the insurance provided for VZW customers who wish to insure their Storm. I elected to pay the monthly fee after seeing the retail cost for a Storm unit. I am glad I did.

After realizing my Storm was gone for good I contacted VZW who immediately suspended my service. I was directed to Phoneclaim.com where I completed a web claim form. Took me about 3-5 minutes. I did this at approximately 1830 hours on 6-2-2009. At approximately 1830 hours 6-3-2009 a UPS driver delivered my replacement Storm to my front door. WOW!

I was a happy .132 operator and while restoring my Storm files I was happy to see .148 was available. YEAH!!

All said and done I was quite thrilled to be back in service for a mere $50 USD deductible.

You ROCK Asurion!!

I've used them twice for my VZW phones. They are fast and reliable.

I too have had to use the insurance when my daughters BB Pearl was stolen and she received a replacement in 24 hours.

Europe sux. The phone companies don't offer insurance, you have to buy your phone / contract through a 3rd party company (like bestbuy kinda place) to get that kind of insurance... Lamo-s :(

Talking

I just want to thank you, XelhaBB, for posting this thread.

I had an accident with my phone a few days ago. My husband and I have Verizon, and I didn't realize that he had put insurance when he got our Storms, and apparently he had forgotten as well. I was really sad about the accident with my phone because I could not afford a new one, or even something remotely close to it. I would have had to get a little cheap flip phone, used, possibly from ebay.

Well, I saw this thread and I was like, "Well, let me just put a claim on it, maybe Verizon will call me with a deal or something."

I put in my information and it said I had my insurance and a 50 dollar deductible!!! I was so happy I almost cried. lol. I am pretty frugal when spending, and phones are my big yearly splurge.

So, just letting you know you helped me out big time. Thanks so much!! <3

I had it on all of our Blackberry phones at work (about 30 of them), at $5.00 per month, that was $150 a month total. Decided that based on our loss/breakage rate, I was better off taking our chances. With that many phones, I have someone with a New Every 2 available and I just use that.

When I did have them all on the plan, and there was a breakage or loss, they were great about replacing them.

However, I do have the 3 Storms that we have on the Asurian policy.

The only problem with Assurion is you only get 2 claims a year. Verizon told me that if you lose your phone or it breaks two times in one year you are no longer entitled to another claim. Also, if you cancel the Assurion, you cannot add it back if you upgraded to a new phone. I was going to cancel mine and save 6 bucks a month, but Verizon deterred me saying that I wouldn't be able to add it again.

project86, your were misinformed by Verizon. You can add insurance when purchasing a new phone (new every two). I manage a corporate account of 80 lines and I did this when we upgraded from basic phones (no insurance) to blackberries.

I've used Verizon's insurance when I had my Curve and they are excellent in sending the phone expedited.

Default asurion

I also had a pretty good experience with asurion. The screen on my storm cracked on my way out of town and I contacted verizon who said bring it in or file a claim. Since I didnt know if it was my fault or not I filed a claim. I got a Storm the next day, however it was remanufactured. Made in Canada. It seem ok at first but then the usual problems started. I called them again and they had a tech help me which couldnt get it figured out. She told me they would send another out and it would be brand new. I also took the remanufactured storm to the verizon store first and after they tried to get it figured out they said they couldnt do much else with asurions remanufactured tag on the inside. They also told me that I should have brought the other storm with the cracked screen in , that they may have been able to replace it as long as it didnt have water damage. That way I wouldnt have had to file a claim which used 1. Anyway just figured I would let you guys know. All is good now.
