Exclamation 8830 Delete message on handheld - message not disappearing from handheld

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8830 Word Edition Blackberry v4.2.2.123 (Platform 3.0.0.64).
We use a BES server 4.1.

Our Exchange 2003 email is pushing to Blackberry.

Problem: When I delete newer items on the Blackberry it does indeed seem to delete (disappear) from the Blackberry.

BUT if I do a delete prior on the Blackberry it is NOT really deleting it from the blackberry. Basically I still see them. OR if I delete older items (I had over 6000) they don't disappear. The Date, Sender, and Subject still display.

I basically want the emails on the Blackberry to disappear / delete and no longer take up memory on the Blackberry when I do a delete or delete prior. Here are all the settings for email on the Blackberry:

General Options:
Display Time - Yes
Display Name - Yes
Display Message header On - Auto
Display Message Count - Unread
Display New Message Indicator - Yes
Confirm Delete - Yes
Hide Filed Messages - No (Tired yes as well)
Hide Sent Messages - No
Make PIN Messages Level 1 - Yes
Auto More -Yes
Keep Messages - 30 Days (BUT it keeps it way longer)
SMS And Email Inboxes: Theme Controlled

Email Settings:
Send Email To Handheld - Yes
Save Copy in Sent Folder - Yes
Use Auto Signature - No
Use Out of Office Reply - No

Email Filters:
Just several basic filters

Email Reconciliation:
Delete On - Handheld
Wireless Reconcile - On
On Conflicts - Mailbox Wins

Ok... I think that is all the settings.

All I use on here is the messaging and I do have gmail application... BUT my memory situation is as follows based on Options / Status:

File Free: 0
File Total: 47841280

I basically have only added gmail and opera browser (rarely use), BUT all my memory is gone... which is why I am trying to get the email straightened out so it really only keeps 30 days and really clears them off the Blackberry when I delete them on the Blackberry.

Thanks for your time and help.

Greg

Have you tried a battery pull?

Also, it sounds like you have a corrupt messages database.

Connect your device to your PC and launch desktop manager
Go into Backup/Restore
Select Advance
You should see your Device Databases on the right column.
Highlight Messages and select Clear.

Sorry... I knew I would forget something.

YES... did the battery pull as described by many others and no memory is freed up and the messages that can't be deleted still will not delete.

By the way there is no error message. I just tell it to delete and it does NOT give an error, but the message doesn't delete... IF it is an older message.

The newer ones will delete. How new... don't have exact number of days yet.

Testing that now.

Doing this now... it showed over 25000 in there.

It looks like it might be a slow process so I guess I'll be waiting a bit.

So the next question is after it has cleared how do I get the last 30 days back in there. Do I do something on BES, the BlackBerry or the Desktop Manager?

Thanks again for the help!

Ok... now the messages are empty and I have a bit more memory. After all of the messages were cleared I then did the battery pull and here is what the Status shows now:

File Free: 343928 bytes
File Total: 47841280 bytes

That still looks pretty BAD. Isn't 343928 bytes really just 335.87 KB... which is really just one third of a megabyte.

What the heck is taking all that up?

I have cleared just about everything, but system related stuff.

I only have a couple of apps and they say they are taking up less than 1MB total.

I just cleared "FOLDERS" and this gained me a lot back.

File Free is now: 12725920 after the last battery pull which is about 12MB.

Why the heck couldn't they use the sd card... arghhh...

Well... I still would like any insight on getting more free memory or is that about the best I'll get?

And how to get the last 30 days of email back. That is the one that I really would like to know how to get back.
