I was talking to a super at Verizon yesterday about the cell phone extender they are selling for 249. It works off your iternet service and give you a coverage of around 5000 sq ft.
She said they would be comming out with lots of new berries this year. The first will not have Wi-Fi but later this year rim will have a Wi-Fi unit for Verizon.
I have had my 8830 for about a year and a half now. I would like a shinney new toy, but have to admit I am leary. The 8830 just works. No problems. Except for reception in my house. Still it has better reception than any phone I have ever owned.
The tech said to point my Yagi Antenna toward their tower in Franklin, NC. Thats when I have problems with calls and all else. There is a repeater antenna of some kind in the other direction, but closer that gives me much better coverage. Anyway just my 2 cents.

Prices for every BB but the Storm have dropped significantly at Verizon so there has to be some new phones coming through the pipeline.

I've been holding out buying the 8830 like a rock climber clinging to life on the edge of a cliff. Arrrrrrg! My grip is slipping.

Speaking with our global account rep today he said they expect the device in May and it will go through their certification process (4-6 weeks) so a June launch is likely.

It will likely be at WES 2009.

update - won't be an 8930. We'll be getting the 9630 to replace the 8830 and 8330. Haven't heard anything about a CDMA 8900 model since starting this thread.
