I'm debating on whether or not I should wait to get a storm, or if I should just get one now. Obviously, the device is having some problems as reported by numerous people. Some of these are software related, some appear to be hardware related (needing a business card to make it click better, buttons, etc.). Is something physically wrong with the device that might warrant a slightly different construction for newer models in production? If so, then it would seem it would be best to wait it out. Or, do you think the problems are solely software related, in which case it wouldn't matter if you bought one now or later, so long as you downloaded the new updates? Best Buy has Storm's, so I am able to get my hands on one if I wanted to (which I do!), but I've heard so many conflicting reports about potential recalls and a number of other things. To wait for not to wait?

You should have had a poll for this thread. Options being yes, no, or beer.

You probably want to check out some of the comments in thread titled: "Can anyone give the Storm a chance?" (I would link directly to it, but my post count isn't high enough yet)

My question to you would be if you NEED a new phone right now. If not at least wait it out a month or so. I hear a new software update is due out first wk of December with another to follow later on in the month. This way you can see if in fact the issues that people are having now will be fixed with an update.

I was in need of a new phone so I went ahead a bough it despite what I have been hearing about the storm. My personal experience so far has been good. I have only had to remove the battery once. It is a little sluggish at times, but if you are a patient person (willing to give it a second or two) then you should be good.

Another reason to wait is there aren't many apps available to the new model right now. I'm struggling to find themes or other apps that are compatible for the Storm.

I'm a huge fan of the touch screen. I'm a new BB customer all together so this being my first BB I'm really happy with it and like what it offers over the iPhone - primarily excellent push e-mail and awesome call quality.

Hope this helps.

i agree. if you really want one, just get one. keep in mind that not everyone is experiencing problems with the phone. i for one have not encountered any of the problems that most people have been posting on here.

the number of people experiencing some problems are probably far less than the number that are actually very pleased with the phone. i do wish the phone's accelerometer was a bit quicker, but i can wait for some future updates that will cure that.

I'm glad I didn't wait. Even though there are some minor issues, they are for the most part wildly exaggerated. I honestly love this phone and haven't been able to put it down for a week.

Well, reason once again was a slave to the passions: I ordered my Storm. Here's to hoping I actually receive it before Christmas. And, when I do receive it, here's to hoping I don't regret it. Cheers.

Don't wait - it's a great phone once you get used to it.

Some things are tedious (dealing with Web pages in either BB Browser or Opera). They will improve with time...

Yeah, mine had some glitches at first but they're improving as I figure out settings to change.

I think you'll be very happy with your purchase. RIMarkable just posted an article about the soon to be released software update. Someone from Crackberry.com already was able to load it on the phone and did a video of how the accelerator seems to be fixed w/ this new update. To check out the article check out the article to rimarkable.com - I can't post the exact site since I do not have enough posts. Try doing a search for OS 4.7.0.75

Don't wait, there are already OS updates out that fix the majority of issues. Plus, if you order now you'll already be waiting for a week or two til it's shipped to you.

Ditto...I love mine on .75 and new core app that popped up when I got home today. The DM did not even try to convince me to reinstall .65, just upgraded core apps, and all is flying on the phone. No lag to speak of, phone feels like nothing I have had before, and is very well put together. I missed my 8830WE at first, but now with the new os (.75) and core apps I wouldnt change it for anything.

I wish I had waited even though my pearl had problems with the scroll ball. The rebooting at odd times, the weak battery life compared to the pearl and all the other problems have been a huge inconvenience at work. One time after it rebooted it didn't reconnect to the network and my phone was off for about an hour - I caught hell for that (I'm an IT person and on call all the time).

If you can wait, wait. I'm stuck trying to wait out this 30 day return period to see if they can fix these problems fast enough. Even the updated OS has not helped - in fact it even seems to reboot MORE now than it did before!
