Default Exchange 2007 with .net 1.1 and BES 4.1.4

Please Login to Remove!

first post... long time lurker ;)

So I bit the bullet and decided to upgrade to x64 2003 Server (sp2) + Exchange 2007 (sp1). Previously running BES 4.1.3 on exchange 2003.

I am running a single server solution, so BES and Exchange '07 are on the same box. I also have OWA running... came across an issue where OWA (actually IIS)and .net 1.1 do not get along. The only way to get IIS to run properly is to remove .net 1.1 and make sure that .net 2 is running in x64bit mode.

So having figured this all out and getting my OWA up and running again I was super happy... until I went to administer my BES and everytime I open Blackberry Manager and expand the tree to my server I get a Microsoft Visual C++ error referencing bbmgrw32.exe and an abnormal program terminiation, when I hit OK the manager closes. After a little head scratching I remembered that the BES install installed .net 1.1. and I guess needs it to run the mgr.

If I reinstall the .net 1.1 (it gives me the warning that issues with iis have been known to occur with the version of windows I am running) then the blackberry manager runs, but alas my website and OWA don't work.

What can I do?!?!?! I can't believe I am the first to run into this issue. btw I do have the mr4 installed.

Can I run the bes mgr from another PC (my vista workstation) to at least add BB's and perform routine work? Other than the bb mgr not working the rest of the BES funtions fine.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the world of posting

If you install .NET Framework 1.1 you can then go into the IIS Manager and disable its usage. ...

Go to C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 on the server and do:

aspnet_regiis -i

to re-register .NET Framework 2.0

and go to:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322

and do aspnet_regiis -u

to uninstall asp.net 2.0

and then launch the IIS Manager and you shouldn't see any asp.net 1.1 stuff there and the BES manager should launch ...

sounds good in theory at least

I assume you meant to uninstall asp.net 1.1.....
I will try that out and let you know how it goes. I am in the proccess of installing communications server on this same box, and am curious if this will all be happy together!
