So I'm using a Bold and a Droid right now. Anyone wanna weigh in on how you think the two will compare?

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

Well, your on 2 different carriers for starters.

Bold will have better batter and likely have faster net. Droid runs on android.

The droid is heavier and after a long conversation you can feel it.

Long time iPhone user here.. since day one actually.

Made the switch after I went swimming with the iPhone...

Got the droid... used for 2 weeks. Nice, but clunky.

Got the ERIS, very nice, but very slow..

Got the BB 9700 back on my long time carrier of ATT and am very happy.

Me too, liked the Pearl for it's portability so to speak but after switching to 9700, wow
Never going back. The power and functions it has, and the ease to type on a full qwerty is overwhelming.

I own the 9700 so maybe this is a bit biased, but I've played around with the droid and I think it's pretty neat on how it has a touch screen AND a full qwerty keyboard, but I have two major complaints. Compared to the iPhone atleast, the Droid touch screen has quite a delay. And while the full qwerty keyboard is a plus, the keys are all flat and makes it really hard to type/feel out the letters. I like how on the 9700, all the buttons are textured

This is probably in the category of something that you might not notice as a difference but something the people you talk to on the phone would. I have a customer and two people I deal with frequently there are both on Verizon and work out of the same office; one has a Blackberry Curve and one has the Driod, and this afternoon I talked to both of them within 5 minutes of each other.

On the phone conversation with the Blackberry user, the voice quality was clear, quite, and very real - he sounded just like he does in person. The phone conversation with the Droid user was quite different - I had trouble hearing her clearly - she sounded a bit like she was in an echo chamber and the voice was shrill and a bit scratchy. It was the first time I have talked to her since she got the Droid (she used to have a Blackberry also) and I was a bit surprised at the difference.

On top of all else they might be - or might not be - Blackberries are great phones.

I've just come from a G1 to a 9700. Android is amazing in concept (being an early adopter), but it still needs another 18 months to mature. Although the Nexus almost swayed me back, I am going to stick to my guns on the 9700. It does everything I want (bar slow web browsing - although I use the IP modem and tether more often).

I did look at the Droid, but I think Motorola has done the right thing in the wrong way. Looks and feels like the device makes android go backwards with that clunky keyboard. The keyboard on the blackberry (or any other RIM device) is definitely superior to any other physical keyboard (which I struggled on the G1 because of the clunky side).

The 9700 should win hands down as a communication device .

@nicollealexis: No way is it clunky! It's even smaller that the previous Bold and the Curve.

Second this. The size of the 9700 is excellent. I have had Pearls in the past. Actually I think I have had almost all the different BBs over time.

I think you can even turn on the "sure type" if you like.

I did almost this exact same path... except replace Droid with Nexus, and AT&T with T-Mobile (and no Eris in between ;) )

My Nexus was defective anyways... VERY poor battery life... to the tune of 50% left after only 4hrs, with wifi, gps, bt, im, etc all OFF... what good is having a smarthphone if everything is turned off??? So back it went after 2 weeks (barely made the 14-day window)... Rocking a 9700 on T-Mobile... UMA is awesome!!
