Hello all. Purchased a 9700 yesterday with 3G. I've tethered it successfully with my laptop via cable and it looks like I'll be cancelling my Verizon broadband subsription at the end of the month.

Here's what I'd like to do and I apologize if the issue has been addressed somewhere already but this is a new model phone so I thought I'd start a new thread. Somewhat new to bluetooth, I know I can pair a headset no problems, but can I install a dongle to replace the usb cable, and pair both the dongle and the headset at the same time allowing me to surf and talk via the bluetooth connections simultaneously?

If so, what are the compatible models for dongles? Can I just purchase a cheap mini for a few bucks? (I'm a real cheapskate :)

I am not sure Verizon won,t charge you for data access when tethered for modem use. Carriers have figured out this bypass and offer Broadband plans for that purpose. I donxxx8217;t see an unlimited broadband plan from Verizon and I doubt any carrier allows unlimited data on these plans because of the potential for massive downloads. As for simultaneous data and voice, Verizon does not seem to support that.

But the OP bought a new device on AT&T, not verizon.

I'm on AT&T and I looked into this some time ago. AT&T offers both a Smartphone Personal and a Smartphone Personal plus Tethering plan for Blackberries (and other smart phones). There is a price increase for the Tethering option.

Woops!. I think both charge extra anyway. Nothings free anymore.
