Wink OS 4.1.0.268 Released for 7250

Please Login to Remove!

Telstra has OS 4.1.0.268 code available for the 7250 handhelds!

https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...ient=eiKaMQ2dL

Using the information from the various OS upgrade threads here I've successfully installed the 4.1 OS onto my Bell Mobility 7250. So far everything is working well ... first impressions are that the handheld is actually running a little quicker than with the 4.0 code. The browser loads and renders very nicely. I'll report more as I run more tests.

Just downloaded for my Verizon 7250. Installed it on my PC, removed the Vendor file, Loaded it and the process took roughly about 35 minutes. I have already loaded Themes to it and they are working fine. will report more, but my hat is off to you sir for finding it and posting it.

Here is a small sample of my 7250 with a theme I threw together.

I was able to assign individual ringtones to different people finally, works great for exceptions also. Will keep adding as I play more with it. Unfortunately since I have two 7250's I did not do it on my active one as of now just in case I ran into trouble. I will keep testing things and functionalities for a while, once I am convinced everything is right I will put it on the active one, and test more extensively. But so far everything is working great, I am happy to report.

Wirelessly posted (7250/4.0.0.204: BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

The OS enhancements for the Browser, Calendar, Profile Exceptions, Auto-complete of To/Cc fields in compose, etc all work without a hitch. I can now tether with my laptop ... Sort of ... I can connect, authenticate and register on the network. My laptop receives a valid IP/DNS setting. But I cannot get out to the internet, cannot even ping. I'll be playing with it a little more over the weekend when I have more time.

Thanks, Mark!

Is there a readme file for this anywhere (like what's new from v4.0)? I'll check back here periodically, for updates, too.

EDIT - Question 2 - Will this work on a 7250 from Verizon?

It should, delete the vendor.xml file from your pc.

Anyone who has Verizon with EVDO activated on their 7250 tried this yet? I still get the occasional DNR and 1X on my 7250 and would like to know if this software upgrade eliminates this issue.

Thanks!

You have to get in the habit of reading all the thread rather than just the last entry, the second entry here (mine) says it will work on the Verizon 7250.

On most computers, vendor.xml is located here:
c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

I'm not quite sure what I ever did to get on your bad side, but thanks for pointing out that I missed that in your post.

KonTiki, do you have EVDO on your Verizon 7250? Does it still work?

I have been testing on a spare 7250 that I have that is not activated so I do not have any way of telling. I have EVDO on the active unit, but I do not intend to install it on that one until I have tested the other unit for all the functionalities, so I will be able to tell you in about a week or so. This has become my test unit.

Not on my bad side I was merely pointing out because you see this here so often that people do not search or read things all the way through to understand what needs to be done or what was really said.

Many times I have tried to poin out to others here, specially newere people that most of your answers are here already, we have all gone through prettu much the same thought processes, so if we read carefully we can get those answers. I am sorry if I sounded or came accross very rough I was not trying to chastice you, so I apologize to you publicly if that is what you felt.

I would like to reassure all verizon customers that you will still have your EVDO access after installing this update.

I know it might be too soon to know, but have you noticed any decrease in DCRs or the 1XEV falling back to 1X?

Has anyone with Verizon been able tp synchronize wirelessly, My tester which is not in a plan has not been recognized for synchronization though it has paired with the computer quite well, it may be the no plan part I dont know. Since everything else I have tried seems to be working I will give it till Sunday night and then try it on the other 7250. THen I will try to synch again.

Default Evdo Warning!

After upgrading, when I tether, upon dialing, the display switches from 1XEV to 1x and does not connect. This absolutely, utterly, completely sucks.
