Default Telus releases handset OS 4.0.2.29 for 7250

Only improvement I can see is the calculator. Can't find any release notes on this one...

okay... well, apart from the fancy new calc, there is no apparent change. Oh wait... the 1X is in a different font!

oh well... perhaps more will come soon.

Does it say 'EVDO' (especially if you are in the middle of a city core?)

no evdo.
believe me. I would have mentioned it.

I am in the center of Chicago, where EVDO is present/widespread...

I guess we'll have to wait for the next version.

All the 4.0.2 series releases have the new calc.

Also since it is 4.0.2 it should include the bluetooth updates that were sent out to the GSM and iDEN phones.

Now, it says: 1XEV!!!!!!!!!!

But it also says data connection refused.

Probably Verizon is seeing you pop up in their logs and saying... HUH?

So when you roamed into Vcast range I wonder if they blocked it from hitting the BB servers.

okay. after an hour on the phone with Verizon tech support... They want to send me a new device.

I think I will just downgrade it to the previous version.

They think that the radio can't keep the connection going. I obviously did not tell them that I installed the Telus software.

At least I have seen hard proof that The 7250 is evdo capable...

I've installed it on my Bell Mobility 7250. The packaged version of Blackberry Messenger is older; so I needed to download this again and install it.

Changes that I've noticed:

1. The calculator is a big improvement.

2. 1X font is different. But I don't see EVDO (currently in Waterloo, Ontario)

3. Time/date gives you the option of network time, Blackberry, or off. This is an improvement, as I previously had issues with the device's clock off a few minutes...setting to "Blackberry" updated the time perfectly. Setting it to "network" appears to put the clock ahead a minute.

4 . A "bar" cursor now appears in the phone application while dialling. Dial line appears in a larger font.

5 . Phone app now shows "show my number?" and "Restrict my identity" in general options. Aren't these the same things???

6 . #4357* doesn't show anything about EVDO; still says device is dual band 1X. Hardware version now shows "2".

I haven't had an opportunity to test voice yet...will report back later on that.

my device was definately attempting to connect to the evdo network.

I had to downgrade the firmware to get it working again.

It really stumped verizon, though. The tech kept trying to resend service books. hehehe.

Nice little upgrade here. I like the new phone layout and the calculator is a HUGE improvement.

Although I did lose my wallpapers and bookmarks on the reinstall.... but no biggie.

But my BB is running a little slower it seems, anyone else notice this?

You may have "enhanced audio" enabled. This features boosts the volume in loud environments.
