hi guys,

I run a small SBS 2011 server with BES Express for 2 of our users with blackberry's.

all the emails go through exchange fine and appear in outlook, but any emails sent internally on the exchange only go through t outlook and not the blackberry devices!

this is really hacking me off as i don't have enough experience with BES to sort this out! I think it has been happening since BES was first installed but the users didn't say anything so the free support has now run out.

any ideas as to why this is happening?

Just to clarify: Mails that come in from an external sender (e.g. Hotmail) are working fine? (i.e. they are visible in Outlook and on the Blackerry)?

Yep, all external emails are fine going to both Blackberry and Outlook.

Emails sent internally - just Outlook

Sometime ago a user had the same problem, in the end the problem was some Outlook rule. Have a look at this thread:

oh dear, i didn't even consider rules making a difference!

the folder redirections they mention, is that through BES or Exchange?

You can change folder redirection on the BES or on the Blackberry device itself:

OK, have made the changes on BES console, should this be instant or is there a refresh period?

Yes, but give it 15 minutes.

How are the Outlook rules done? Are they server based or client based? Are they moving internal mails to a PST?

server side rules, i checked through owa and found a massive list!

OK, then make sure that all folders that are targeted in the Outlook rules are ticked for folder redirection.

as a lazy precaution, i have ticked all the folders! but all is looking good. Will rollout the change to the other user and keep an eye on it for a few weeks.
