Does anybody have the touch screen Torch?
Please Login to Remove!
I am thinking of getting the touch screen torch. I have never had a touch screen device before except for the Playbook.
Have any of you owned the touch screen Torch? (I think its 8650)
Would you recommend it?
Thanks.

Re: Does anybody have the touch screen Torch?
There are several. I have the 9810 which is a slider with a touch screen. There is also the 9850 on Verizon, plus a couple of others. I suggest you visit a Verizon retail store and check them all out.
What would work for you will depend on how you use the device and how well you can adapt to the touch screen. Only you can answer.

True enough, touch screens are not for everybody ..... but eventually everybody will have no other choice.

Re: Does anybody have the touch screen Torch?
I have a 9860. My wife has a beautiful white 9900 (Bold, keyboard). Both of us are happy with our units. If you type a lot, you may want to consider a Bold (instead of *any* other phone, touch screen or with keyboard, of any manufacturer/brand, BlackBerry or otherwise). Typing on virtual keyboards takes some getting used to and is never as natural as using the real keyboard.
That said, 9860 offers a nice size screen for reading and the virtual keyboard is as good as any, on any phone. If you are thinking the "slider" Torch (9810/9830 I believe now, not sure), they are a good compromise - you get both, but the "real" keyboard is not as good as it is on 9900.
I recommend that you try it for some time, if you can.

Re: Does anybody have the touch screen Torch?
I have had the 9850 since it came out last August and really like it. It does freeze up occasionally (for perhaps 20 seconds), but it doesn't happen very often.
99% of the time I hold it in 'landscape' mode, which makes it a lot easier to type on.

Re: Does anybody have the touch screen Torch?
I rock the 9860, great device. Is almost like a mini playbook but lacking the swipe commands. it is great for teh remote control of the playbook when using with a big screen tv. I use remote function with Bridge for movies, you tube, pics etc.
