Profiles Backup Error

Need some help gang -
After recently upgraded to the Optus OS, I'm getting an error when trying to backup my Curve... the error occurs at the Profiles segment of the backup - it goes thru fine until then and "the data was not recognized" error box pops up and terminates the backup cycle...
I already have tried to restore from a previous back up but the profile database does not open up an option (arrow) to move it over - it's greyed out ... and I can't just clear it the profile either, because it is greyed out on the right -(device side of backup/restore window
any help is appreciated.
