Default Memory

Please Login to Remove!

As much as I hate to post this, I feel I have to - I recieved my PB a while back from RIM - very ealy pre-release (16 GB version, I know I would have thought they would have sent me a bigger one but I cant complain) and now that I have gone through 3 yes 3 OS upgrades (and no I am not deleting applications just so the tiny 2MB "update required are pushed, these are full blown OS upgrades - 100+ MB in size) I have noticed the Memory available has taken a dump down to maybe 400 MB. Now I know being a Beta Tester since the 90's I cant really complain (again, and I am really not) but I havent been able to locate the older OS's to delete them as you would with an OTA upgrade on a BB itself.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I have already emailed and posted RIM on their Beta site but have not heard anything back as of yet and thought I would ask you kind people.

Please don''t jump on me if my Profile here says "new member" - check the 'Join Date" first!!

Thanks.

Default Re: Memory

Are you looking at the Memory or the Storage?

I have the 32GB unit and my Free Storage is at 22.3 GB (Total Storage 29.6 GB) and my Free Memory is 331.8 MB (Total Memory 1 GB).

Default Re: Memory

I think OP is looking at free memory, and what he is seeing is more or less normal.

I am running OS 1.0.3.1868. I deleted about 4MB of stuff and installed Poynt. My PlayBook shows 349.4MB free at the moment.

By contrast, just to make the point that Mama is making, my PlayBook is the 64GB model. That is 1GB RAM, which all models have, for the OS and apps, and 64GB storage for media and document files and such. My PlayBook says I have 1 music file, 10 videos, and 801 documents. I have 43.4GB free storage out of 59.4GB total available.

Having roughly 400MB RAM free would seem typical.

By the way, it isn't clear what is meant by locating and deleting the old OS as is done for OTA updates on the handsets. That doesn't make any sense to me.
