Default Bluetooth connects but shows disconnected...

Please Login to Remove!

OK I have downloaded v4.1 of the handheld OS and have the latest desktop software. My BB 7100g is paired to my Dell Inspiron 630m. I have enabled Bluetooth via the Device Manager and added it to the list of devices. It shows up as connected in Device Manager. I go to Desktop Manager, it detects the device connected via Bluetooth and asks if I would like to transfer data using the wireless connection, to which I naturally say yes. BUT, the status bar says "disconnected"... WHY?

The other thing that seems a little strange - when I look at the Bluetooth devices in the MS "Bluetooth Devices" dialogue (i.e. double click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray) it shows as a BlackBerry 7100, but it flashes between "Passkey enabled" and "Connected" (the "Connected" subtitle flashes up for a brief instant every second or so, replacing the "Passkey enabled" subtitle each time). I feel as though this should be a steady "connected" status, but I have never connected to anything so I can't be sure.

Any thoughts from the gurus out there? I'm pretty sure I've followed all instructions to the letter but I just can't seem to get past this last (hopefully) step!

Default Having same issue as Tim Burrows with 7290 and Bluetooth

I am also having the same problems you are Tim. I have the latest handheld and desktop software, 4.1. Bluetooth sees it, shows as connected, connection, device manager and connection settings see it also but the status bar still says disconnected.

I also have the issue with the "connected" in the bluetooth devices flashing connected for a brief second, then flashing off, then on, then off... etc.

I am using a Belkin Bluetooth USB adaptor which works with Microsoft Bluetooth and other devices in the past with no issues.

Hope we can find a solution. -Russ

It's a built-in adaptor that came with the notebook. It's a Dell Wireless 350Bluetooth module, using the native xp drivers (version 5.1.2600.2180).

Interesting that we have different adaptors but the same problem. That would seem to rule the adaptor out. Do you have a Dell?

Webguy just sent me a message saying that he has found the problem and I confirmed it.
The McAfee virus suite that comes with these Dells must conflict with the bluetooth driver or something. Anyway, if you uninstall the McAfee software (we both did it when the trial subscription expired) then Bluetooth works without a problem.
