Default OS: 8820 4.5.0.152/4.5.0.110 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® 8820 smartphone
From At&t; This will load on any carrier's 8820 model

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.152 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.152
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.110
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.90
* File name: 8820M_PBr4.5.0_rel152_PL2.7.0.90_A4.5.0.110_AT&T.e xe
* File size: 91.47MB

Download Link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4
Instructions for installing on ANY 8820 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Install it to your PC, search for and delete the Vendor.xml, and run desktop manager. Works fine on T-Mobile.

Read any of the multiple threads on OS 4.5, and yes, HTML works.

I can't find anything in the other threads that tells me what has changed from 4.5.0.81 in the just released 4.5.0.110. That is the main reason why I posted my question above.

There is a wireless upgrade option under advanced settings menu. I haven't noticed this option in previous releases.

This OS upgrade is killing me.

I'm getting horrible memory leaks, much more so than the last OS. I haven't added any new programs, but after a reboot I start out with 12mb (used to be 18mb) and now I run out of memory in about a day to a day and a half.

Anyone else seeing this?

I've been rockin this OS for about a week and haven't noticed any detrimental problems. I just reset the device and I'll keep an eye on my free space. I'll report back.

I haven't had any problems with memory utilization and this OS.

I have, however, had Java issues with this version and the previous version. Pressing the menu button within jmIRC and Opera Mini displays the menu which immediately hides itself again. Pressing and holding it doesn't do anything to alleviate the problem. I don't really use either application terribly often, so it doesn't really bug me.

Thumbs up Works for me

I followed the instructions and it works great.

Notes:
- Tmobile (software not availible from their site for 8820, although it is for curve)
- on a BES. I did have to re-activate my BES account (Enterprise Activation). See your BES admin to get reactivated.

Thanks

Ok, show me where you found a list of incremental improvements for this OS version over the last version.

Does anyone think T-Mobile will release the 4.5 for 8820?

They probably will, but when I called and asked them, their support folks were useless and couldn't give me an ETA.

Don't bother waiting for them to get their act together, just follow the instructions and be done with it.

As of this version of the OS(4.5) going forward you can create software configs to push future updates from the BES(wirelessly)
