Seems to be an overall nice build, no battery drain here - on the contrary.
Youtube works btw

I installed .199 last night, charged the phone overnight, and it's been running on battery about 14 hours today. It was 2.5 hours on bluetooth (with a couple of long calls), with about 10 or 11 hours on UMA and the rest on EDGE. Several calls today (UMA and EDGE with BT), a couple of dozen text msgs, a couple of dozen emails. BBWeather and Viigo running all day. Battery is down to 65% now, after 14 hours of use.
This is OK, but I think I actually did a bit better with .174, although this is clearly not a scientific approach, just my impressions.
As I reported a few days ago, I've found that UMA is rock solid in my home, in my public library, in Panera, in BestBuy (they have unprotected WiFi sessions open) and a couple of other spots. At home office, it seems our SonicWall wifi access point is set in such a way that my 8900 can't hold onto a UMA session, but keeps reverting back to EDGE. Whatever is causing this, all other wireless devices we've tried connect to the SonicWall happily - and stay connected (although this is the only UMA device in the office).
I had the problem with .174, and also still have it with .199.
Aside from this: I'm showing about 130MB free, having started the morning with 139MB free. I haven't been logging these figures, so I really don't know if that's any better or worse than the situation with .174
Overall, it seems fine -- doesn't cure everything, but it seems solid and zippy.

since installing .199 it has been dropping a few select calls on UMA - typically right at the BEGINNING of a call - and usually its when someone is calling me and I answer.

VERY fast installation (less than 1/2 hour) and so far very stable with no dropped UMA calls and fair amount of memory available (135 mb) and battery drain is very little.
All of my apps are working fine and phone consistently finds my wireless router all day long!
Looks like a winner with this one!

So far .199 seems fine -- qualitatively, it seems about as responsive as .174, memory usage is similar to .174 -- I have a bit less free (129MB), but I also installed Pandora and just played half a dozen songs -- this might account for the lower memory than I saw with .174.
Battery life *does* seem to be a bit shorter with this than with .174, but I couldn't swear to it. I got down to 50% last night at the end of a 17 hour day: not bad, but I used to be at 65% or better by then with .174. Usage wasn't identical, so this is far from a precise observation...just an impression.
Nothing is broken with .199, and I've no reason to look back. Will likely keep this installed until the next newer version is available.

.199 works great for me what I noticed is that if press and hold the menu key for 1 sec or more you get the switch application menu which is awesome. Before I was pressing alt+escape to get to the switching applications. I am not sure if this shortcut is new to 199.

Anyone having trouble with static Today themes not showing your previous calendar entries? Everything is still in my calendar, but not being shown. Everything that I add after the upgrade seems to work just fine. Is it just me?? I have tried battery pulls and uninstalling and reinstalling the theme as well.

Ok so I just realized all my entries got changed to 'Device Default' on the 'Send Using' section in the entry. However it won't let me change it to my default email to show them on the Home screen. Anyone know how to besides going and re-doing all my entries?

So far this OS is very stable for me. Wifi is stable. Battery life was a bit better with .174, but my usage patterns are different day to day, so I can't be 100% sure. Right now I am at 75% battery life, after unplugging the phone around 7am. I have had about 1 hour of web browsing, a few quick phone calls, 75-100 texts, opening facebook and twitter occasionally, a few emails. Not to mention when I am at school and work, which I have been since 8am, the service is horrible. So I have been connected to wifi since about 10am, and then I don't even always have wifi signal so it is switching back and forth. So I am VERY content with battery life today. Yesterday at the end of the day I was down to around 55%.

Yea, the battery life has gone down with this beta. I am back to replacing my battery every day. I am heavy usage user but with the last beta I was able to get more then 2 days out of the battery so not sure what changed.

The reports of poor battery life with .199 mystify me. I'm wondering how much it has to do with the way certain applications use phone resources and battery. I'm finding .199 to be quite good in terms of the battery. Yesterday, for example, I took my 8900 off the charger at 6:15am. I have Viigo, BerryWeather, BBWeather, Facebook and BeeJiveIM running. Bluetooth is always on, WiFi is always on. I made several phone calls yesterday while in NYC and on the train, used the FB application several times, did a few web searches and traded a dozen or so SMS messages. By 11:15pm, after 17 hours on battery, I was still at 75%.
So what's the difference? I didn't listen to music yesterday as EEB did -- could something like that really make the difference?
