Default Blackberry 8900 vs Samsung Memoir?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm in need of a new phone and now I am wondering which of these two should I get? I have T-Mobile and these two are the most expensive ones so I'm guessing their the best in their class. What are the pros and cons to each one?

The 8900 is a smartphone and the Memoir is not. That said the camera on the Memoir is one of the best on the US market and you can quickly download to all the top photo sharing sites like snapfish and such. If you live in a TMobile 3G area (very few right now) that is available with the Memoir and not the 8900 but the 8900 has WiFi and the Memoir does not.

I went with the 8900. I can't believe I went this long without a BlackBerry, what a device. I am trying to convince my wife that the Memoir would be perfect for her and take one extra item out of her purse . . . so far she is still happy with her old Nokia.

Oh yeah, how long have you had TMobile? I have been with them since 2002 and when inquiring about a better price on the 8900 they conected me with customer loyalty people the cut me quite the deal on the phone. No brainer to stay with them then, great phone and a good price and unlimited calls for my wife and I for $90.

Sadly I have only been with T-Mobile for 7 months and I have to wait at least 4 more before I can even get the discount price. My sister bought the Samsung Behold and on her phone it says 3G so I believe the area in which I live has 3G.

I called about getting a better deal on the 8900 and they can only take out 50$ so I have to pay over 400$, which sucks since I have no phone, I need a phone, I don't work at the moment and I only have about 130$ saved up.

You wouldn't happen to know if the Memoir would be a good choice f I don't have a data plan?

Sorry to hear that. I don't think I would have paid $400 for the 8900 or any phone. Check with TMobile as to coverage on 3G, it is mostly in big cities (I am in Pensacola and it will be a while before it makes it here). As for the Memoir and no data plan I am not sure, however, I would think that pictures could be uploaded quickly once you conect the Memoir to your computer via the USB cord. It might be better for you to get a new contract in a few months with Verizon or ATT. Part of the position I took with TMobile when renewing was that Verizon was offering two Storms for the price of one. Not that I wanted two Storms, but it worked out to $100 each and from my limited experience playing with a Storm I thought it was a great phone.

I'm not seeing the comparison between the two. One is more of business level messaging device while the other is a touch screen consumer oriented camera phone. I would understand it better if the Samsung Memoir is being compared to lets say, the LG Renoir.
