Default Mac Issues and email

Please Login to Remove!

Just got my first BB (8800) and am not thrilled but I want to give it a chance

First question
1. When I send a message blackberry sends me a copy of the message I just sent so it appears I have a new email when in fact it is just the one I sent. How can I make this stop?

2. I have a Mac. I see there is some synchronization software that I can download but it is unclear if this software allows me to manage the device from my desktop-- preferences etc...

Am I going to hate my blackberry if I am a mac user? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance
David

I am a Mac user and BB works flawlessly with it. You can sync w/ entourage or ical or anything u want.

Just download the PocketMac for BlackBerry from the RIM website.

It works as well as the PC counterpart.

As for managing SD card, enable mass storage device function, then connect to USB port, you will see your blackberry on desktop as a mount drive.

As your email problem, log in to the blackberry portal website for Cingular, in the setting part, make sure the Bcc an outgoing email to ....address is empty so you don't Bcc yourself a copy of the email every time you send an email.

site is here

BlackBerry Internet Service

If you want to Bcc it, you need to Bcc it to another email address that you don't check/link with you blackberry.

I recommend you signing up a new gmail account dedicated for the collection of outgoing blackberry emails.

I know someone who had the same problems you had. She is a Mac user. Mac and BB don't like each other...at all. The 3rd party sync software only works so so for her.

Default i'm having the same issue

I'm also having all the same issues. In addition, my blackberry says "USB Chargign is not sufficent, verify that your handheld is connected......." when i plug it into my powerbook. I would like to get my contacts on the blackberry and I downloaded PocketMac but it can't find my blackberry. Thanks in advance for any help out there. Alan

GUYS! The Original Poster did not voice ANY PROBLEM SPECIFIC TO MAC!

His original questions #1 was receiving duplicate outgoing email--NOTHING TO DO WITH A COMPUTER, and I posted a possible solution specific for setting on the BlackBerry website.

#2 was NOT a problem, but rather a QUESTION!

Why did you guys all say that the BB has problems with Mac? Where did the Original Poster say anything about any problem about Mac?

To answer your "problems" with Mac:

1. I sync my BB with Mac FLAWLESSLY every time via iCal and Address book. Never tried entourage though.

2. If you have problem with PocketMac, trust me on this, it's not because 8800 doesn't work, PocketMac is downloadable from RIM website!

What you need to do is RESET in POCKETMAC software to FIRST SYNC STATE!

3. The "insufficient power" USB message, I have gotten it with PC too. All you need to do is to plug it in again or turn off the computer or plug the ac adapter of your laptop into the wall.... it's not the BB's problem.

I agree fully!! I have no troubles syncing 8700c, 8100, or the 8800 to my macbook pro. the issue with no charging or not being connected properly, just unplug and replug, if you keep having the problem, change USB cords. Usually means a faulty cable, not a faulty mac/BB. I sync with both pc and mac and have no problems with either and think they are about equal.

So I'm on the cingular site and the Bcc field is empty. What other reason would cause for me to receive a copy of my email?

the best way to do it that i've found (I'm an apple consultant and have been a BB user for 3 years) is to rent an account on an exchange server-- it works beautifully with entourage and you're always in sync.

WHAT? PM works as well as Desktop Manager?

I am an Apple fan but this statement is over the top. Just look at the number of problems that PM users fight daily in these forums. I'm waiting for Missing Synch's solution which will I hope may be the first reliable synch solution for the BB8100 on the Mac.

If Missing Synch's Q1'07 synch solution doesn't work as hoped, I am thinking of swapping my BB for an iPhone as the synch will likely be seamless. I would not have tried to use the BB8100 with the Mac if I had known about the software quality and both PocketMac and RIMs lack of support for the software. (In fairness, PM v.3.6 did work adequately with my previous BB7100. However, PM v4.X with the 8100 has been a disaster and makes one question whether they tested the software.)

Default Connection Problem

When I go to sync with my Mac, I get an error message from Pocketmac
that states "(10:18:39.420) unable t connect to blackberry (error 1) skipping" I'm trying to sync an 8100 (Pearl). Has anyone had the same problem or know of a fix?
