You know, I'm not sure why I like this site so much more than the other Blackberry forums -- but I really do. Part of it is the volume of traffic, and the very real time interactive nature of the communications. Other forums are also good -- but they tend to be slower. All messages tend to sit in one folder, and it takes quite some time for some people to notice/respond to certain issues. Also, the jumbled nature of the content makes it harder for the right people to see the right messages.

Now I know I've heard in the past that too many folders are a problem -- and unfortuntely, some other BB forums seems to have found this out the hard way. But it really does seem to work here.

I think there are two other reasons this has been so successful. One is a noble, morally superior, reason. The other is a base, down & dirty, pragmatic reason.

The noble reason first: Our moderators and site administrator are EXTREMELY active in the forum. In other words, one of them will almost ALWAYS respond to an open issue in a very short amount of time. I'm not sure if it's just that you guys are super studs, or if it's the structure and ratio of moderator to message volume flow -- whatever it is, it is FANTASTIC! Keep up to excellent work!

The down & dirty reson second: Guess was shameless about promoting this forum. He incurred the wrath of some very respected and admired forum members and moderators. He plugged, and plugged and plugged! I couldn't help myself -- I HAD to check it out. And as the controversey got bigger, and NJBB stepped in and told Guess to "stop it, already" -- I just couldn't contain myself for curiousity. And once I check it out, and got a feel for the forum -- I was addicted...reason number one (above) kicked in, and "you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave..."

I love this site!

Kirson, I agree! I don't know if it's the board layout, the speed or just the fact that I can return here after a few hours and actually see some NEW posts and new members!

Plus, it beats the nOOb attacks on HoFo when they ask if their prepaid service will work in the 7280 they just bought on ebay :D

I too was a doubter when I saw Guess plugging on other forums. But when I got here I was impressed. I have done more reading than posting, but the reading has been very helpful! I haven't witnessed any flames, or poor treatment, which is a welcome site.

Great job Guess and Mods.

John

I treat users of my boards (yes, I have more than one) EXACTLY as I would like to be treated while checking out other boards.

I've been a HOFO member for a long time, as well as rimroad and some others, and this site is by far the best mainly because of the quality of the users (who, unlike many other boards, also includes the moderators/admins). Keep up the good work guys!

Found the site on Hofo. Seems like its the majority of the traffic. I think its time for some link exchanges so you can shoot up to the top of Google.

Assuming linear growth from this point onwards within a few months, there will be thousands of registered users with tens of thousands of guests, and a multiple 5-figure post count. This will be a information powerhouse. RIM will probably take serious notice of this forum, if they haven't already, as part of their prosumer research!

A recent statistic I found on a news website not too long ago: Blackberry prosumers now make 50% of Blackberry users, compared to primarily corporate in the past.
