Some comments and questions....

I really wish that it could import the favorites from the BB browser. I would also like to be able to change the magnification with a hot key instead of going through the menu. Different websites may require different mags.

Also, I am not sure that I understand how it works... why are cookies stored on their server? Why is it connecting to them at all? Are the pages being filtered and formatted through their system first?

Final question...is there a cache that needs to be cleared periodically?

I downloaded it and it worked fine the first day. But now web pages aren't loading. I type in google.com, press enter, but the page doesn't load. Instead, the loading bar goes to 20%, then drops and nothing happens.

Anybody using an 8120 with BOLT? I tried the YouTube route, nothing happens on the screen when I choose a video.

I was able to get it to work somewhat at the Google Video site.

Bolt is still inadequate as there is no option for "column view" like operamini has so that I don't have to keep scrolling side to side to read a damn page. The rendering of images and text isn't as pretty either. Until they get these two issues, especially the column view issue fixed, i'm sticking with operamini.

If you un-check "desktop layout" in Preferences, it gives you a column view. I guess you already tried the "image quality" options.

You can delete any cookies from the preferences, and you can delete the hsitory from the preferences..

Someone up there posted about deleted any cached content.

Yes, like Opera Mini, Bolt pre-processes all of its pages on its servers to increase speed. That is why the Blackberry browser will spend 30 seconds to a minute 'Running Script...' and et cetera, because the mobile phone's slow-by-comparison is doing all the processing.

One major issue that I have is that it reloads each page, every time you go back.

If I use the BB browser and then just "go back" tothe previous page, the load time is really quick. With Bolt, it is like re-loading it all over again.

Do you guys agree? It almost seems like there needs to be a local cache as well. For me this may be a deal breaker.

I have the same problem someone else mentioned. I can only save 1.28 min of youtube videos. I waited a long time until the arrows at the top stopped before saving, but I still got only 1.28 min of video.

I see real potential for this browser. I think Opera Mini is still better overall, but the fact that this browser can open sites that Opera Mini and BB browser absolutely fail at is the best thing For me those sites are blackboard.wayne.edu, my michigan state email, my bank website, GOOGLE DOCS (can't believe it's able to do open this AND edit the documents), skype.com. I don't understand why it can open these sites and Opera Mini can....but I really hope they keep this functionality in when they release the final.


But there are so many bugs, how it gets stuck on pages at 20% loading, and then it won't let you hit "Stop" or go to another page, you have to exit the browser completely. Or how once it gets an error accidentally on a site, it will keep getting the error even though the connection is restored. The scrolling isn't quite smooth yet, it's not bad, but if you move with the trackball, often it won't do anything for half a second, making you think your input didn't register, and then suddenly it'll move. The fonts looks absolutely terrible.

Is there any way to get on a mailing list for when they drop the final release?

ok, so there's the BB browser, Opera Mini, and Bolt. is there a link or page that outlines the pro's and con's of each? In reading the notes above Bolt sounds good but still has a way to go. Generally speaking do you use only Bolt or do you have to flip back and forth btwn BB and Bolt depending on the site you are visiting (e.g. YouTube or a bank site)?
