I was able set up Gmail on a new blackberry in the shop bought it,but in my home network,gmail keeps blocking me , I assume the blackberry device is seen as a hacker

You provided no info in carrier so the only thing you should check is if a firewall option on your home router needs to allow the connection. Generally any cell phone including Blackberrys work on home WIFI if the SSID and access codes are entered in the cell phone. If you did this then check the routers options for blocked services.

looking in the router(TP LINK TL-WR841N Wireless N300 router) it shows Blackberry 9720 connected to my LAN,

currently I'm trying to set up Blackberry Protect,but its been trying to connect for over 40 minutes ..?

Since that is an older BlackBerry (OS7) you need to have a specific BlackBerry Data Plan on your account. You can't just use WiFi. Please contact your carrier.

Good point. My assumption was it worked on cell service.
