Default Latest OS 9900 7.1.0.1424 / 7.1.0.428 (All Languages)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.1424 (All Languages)

Package Version: 7.1.0.1424
Consisting of:
Applications: 7.1.0.428
Software Platform: 5.1.0.338
File name: 9900jAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel1424_PL5.1.0.338_A7.1.0.4 28_SmarTone_HK.exe
File size: 270 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: BlackBerry - Software Downloads 2

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

That's not firmware related. Don't believe everything you read in the forums. If you have radio issues, that's ONLY hardware. There are plenty of ignorant fools who would tell you otherwise, but it's because they're just stupid.

The Bold 99xx's have such poor radio's...WiFi/ Mobile and Bluetooth...pathetic...every single one of them has the issue. I could be standing right next to my WAP and it will show well under 100% signal strength...

My Bluetooth headset - if my phone is in my pocket instead of on my car seat, I get static and jittery. interrupted conversation.

My 9900 radio goes into SOS once in a while. This happens to all of our 9900's enterprise-wide.

Nice product; really poor spec...RIM was being cheap and stupid when they designed this device. IN the end, they just end up screwing themselves by delivering junk to the market.

Although this is not the latest official OS (there is .437) this one seems to be as good as any and according to posts at Crackberry, may have better battery life than my current .391. About to download.

Interestingly there have been 3 new official OS's since the one currently "stuck" at the top of this thread as being the latest OS for 9900. Also we have one page of comments for this OS on Blackberryforums.com and 14 in Crackberry (although admittedly the comments on Crackberry are interspersed with annoying ads which aren’t that distinguishable from the comments) but still, this forum is not being very well maintained. If it weren’t for the many inane and juvenile comments on Crackberry, I might be tempted to jump ship.

Downloaded and installed. Bes activated without issue.
Signing into various applications. Interestingly when I signed into BB App World, it now says I have 11 upgrades! Is there something in the new OS which adds more functionality, or is it that my 9900 did not back up the latest version? Strange, as I find a battery pull will often bring up any upgrades in AppWorld which might not otherwise show up during normal operation, and I did a number of battery pulls today in preparation of installing a new os and nothing came up in AppWorld.

More than a few were complaining, that with the latest leak .402, they were not receiving proper notifications. (Apps(Facebook, Twitter, etc) and App World updates).

Could be related to that? Were you ever on the the latest leaked version?

Well, um, I'd like to say it was peer pressure, but I kind, of, you know, jumped ship.

Using a Windows Phone 7 Nokia Lumia 710...

Longest I've been away from a BB since I got the first 950.

Awesome to both. The 950 eh? To cop a word: Wow!

How do you like it so far? Still playing, or played a bit already and using all it's features?

Sometimes change can be good, otherwise I never would have made the switch to BB.

I'm liking it. I miss a few things that are so obvious on a BlackBerry - syncing Notes (HELLO MICROSOFT) and it doesn't have microSD expansion. But the OS is very nice and I like the new UI. Lots of apps. I think I'm using most of the features. Battery life is terrible - worse than the 9900.

I like the Lumia 900 (huge beautiful screen) but T-Mobile doesn't carry it. Different bands (sigh).

Am I gone forever. Probably not. But I do like this change.

I do like the look of the all black Lumia 900 (The Blue one looks like it came pre-shipped with a case) I didn't even think about it, but it comes pre-pack'd with an ecosystem most people are already a part of....Windows.

Disappointing to hear about the battery life, maybe some improvements were made to it with the 900. It's sad, but is seeming to affect most platforms as they try to squeeze everything and the kitchen sink into every device. Huge touch screens, with dual/quad core procs, etc chewing power.

Good luck though, keep us posted if you can about quirks, and pros and cons etc...

The Metro interface is Windows 8 like. Not really much "Windows" to it.. But I like the Live Tiles feature a lot.

I like my Lumia also. I have an issue with data stalling using WiFi, even with the patch. Battery life is OK for me. Also like the way it handles email and the calendar.

[back to the topic]
I stalyed away from .402 as there seemed to be lots of problems with it. I upgraded to .428 from my home carrier, Rogers's .391 .
After upgrading 11 aps, some minor, seems to be running fine. In the first 24 hours, nothing has jumped out except the home screen for my world in app world has a couple of new icons, such near field, which I don't remember seeing before.

Do I have to do a wipe using JL_CMDR (JL COmmander), then load the new OS and restore from my back up? Or just do the loader the the erase and the wipe will be done by itself? Thanks to all the experts.
