Default Is Viigo Dead?

Has RIM acquired Viigo to use their technology, and kill the product?

Is Social Feeds the replacement for Viigo as many claim? --

I have been using Social Feeds for more than a month now since acquiring my Torch, along with a *forced" load of Viigo (Installed the Storm II version), which does not work well.

I do find some overlap between both applications, but if I were to choose one of the two, I would run to use Viigo, no questions asked.

But Viigo still does not support the Torch, and does not seem to be ready to...

The Viigo Support Team are either on a leave of absence, or too busy working on the version to support OS 6.

My question to them about the Torch support is more than a month old, and still "being processed".

Do you guys want Viigo to continue to exist and get upgraded?

I wouldn't Viigo is dead, but I guess you could. I mean the product itself is dead, you can bet they had a very large in Social Feeds. I doubt they will ever reply to any current open cases, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are working on them in Social Feeds. Their support was always quick in my experience.

I had posted this thread nearly two moths ago to express my disppointment about Viigo not being updated...

I just read in BerryReview an article that goes in the same direction.

Dear RIM why are you letting Viigo die

Some claim that Viigo runs on the Torch... It does, but not optimally. If you install the Storm version, it will work kind of OK.

My concern, two months later, remains that RIM looks like they have given the kiss of death to this fabulous application, and I continue to fail to see where Social Feeds compares to it, or replaces it.

Viigo at the end (i.e. v3.x) was bloated & buggy. There are plenty of other simple RSS readers (without the bloatware).

They did release a Viigo News version that went back to it roots.

Proj Tango was just too much for older 8xxx series devices when it was first released. (excluding the new ones 85xx, 89xx)

If RIM didn't buy them out I'm sure they would still be advancing the App. But Viigo is pretty much dead.. I'm sure they are contributing to SocialFeeds and Blackberry podcasts which are basic apps.

Well I managed to get my grubby hands on "News Feeds" which also allows you to import your Viigo feeds. Early days still but could be something promising if they don't bloat ala Tango.

I read nothing but great initial reviews about BlackBerry News Feeds in the last 2 days...

The good news though is that it sounds like Viigo didn't die. See the attached PCmag article.

I'm disappointed I can't get my hands on it yet. It appears, so I read, only the US BBAW Test Center for now...
