So I just deleted all prior messages completely by accident and I've ascertained from an exhaustive search that there is no way to get back SMSs I haven't backed up.

That said, I want to make sure this never happens again. If anyone can point me towards how to save texts on the SIM as I went into message options and could not find it, I'd appreciate it.

Also, if anyone could just point me to the option on desktop manager that ensures that SMSs are saved, I'd greatly, greatly appreciate it, as this has me frustrated and I just don't want to deal with it again.

You can do a full backup through Desktop manager or just backup the SMS Messages database.
