I just got a message today that as of 1/1/2010 the 4.5 will no longer work. Has anyone else got this message while using Amaze 4.5?

Didn't get that message the first time I opened it, just the normal "Go download the latest version" message. And then after I started it a second time I got the notification that 4.5 will no longer work after 1/1/2010.

What "Amazes" me about the pay plan for this application is that they haven't even put the effort into mapping the BlackBerry's menu structure or key structure. All the menus are navigated with a # and @ to go forward and backward.

While it worked okay for me while navigating, it was not my first choice and I kept it on the phone because it was free. If they do kill it off on 1/1/2010 I guess I will be relying on Telemap Navigator while it is in it's free stage.

Wonder how all these upstart GPS nav companies will do when Google Navigation starts to make it onto other devices?

BTW, if anyone else is interested in checking out Telemap Navigator: http://global.telmap.com/tugpcbeta/

Question

I loaded the 4.5 sucsessfully, went outside to see if it really works, but for some reason I can't catch the satelite. The satelite symbol in the left upper corner stays red. What can be done in order to make it work properly?
Thanks

Question

This Telemap doesn't seems to list my BB 8520 as a supported model. Will it work if I load it as for BB 8310 ?

4.5 is still working for me. It still says that service will be terminated on January 1st, but they haven't disabled it yet.

Another GPS so-called "provider" will bite the dust. When will they learn something about giving the people what they want?

An ad-supported version would have been OK to generate revenue but this company will be toast by the end of 2010.

As an aside, Telmap has been running a free beta program and the old application works quite well, with the newer 5.0 showing alot of promise, but lacking the speed of 4.5.

Anyway, take a look at http://www.telmap.com/tug to sign up to become a tester.

The Garmin app has treated me well and I'm about to find out how MGMaps works while out of signal range this weekend. Anyone else find good replacements for AmazeGps? Wonder if they were 'amazed at how fast the server load decreased once they shut out the non-pay versions?

Honestly it was a nice app, but it did get me completely turned around twice in cities I didn't know well. Just by the fact I knew I should be going north and kept tracking east told me it had picked the wrong street... Grrr....

HiTaX,
I have been following the posts, and have used your site to download the 4.5 version, as like others, I am less than impressed by the 'new' arrangement with 5.0. Thanks for hosting the older version.

I am however having the dreaded 'Communication Problem' message issue reported elsewhere. (I can get the BES version of 5.0 to run fine, so think this is an issue with something other than GPS access.) I have a BB 9000 Bold on an enterprise mail server. I have tried the normal refresh GPS step, with no avail.

From reading the various replies, I see some people seem to have had this issue, and it is fixed by the two versions in 5.0. Do you have any other suggestions on how to get 4.5 running.

Cheers

Scroll up a little and you will see that Amaze decided to shut down 4.5 as of January 2010, so now 4.5 is worthless and 5.0 is pay and in my opinion not worth paying for. I have been very happy with Telmap navigator which is currently free (and better than Amaze IMHO), and unlike my version of Garmin mobile will work outside the USA. If you want Telmap navigator, scroll up a little for a link to the beta sign up page.

Cheers

Melven,
Thanks for the direction there. I had looked at Telmap a few months ago when that message was posted, but had convinced myself from the info on the Telmap site that it would not work in Australia. However, tried it yesterday (as I am going to US shortly) after seeing your message, and got it to work fine here in Aust. Also seems a very slick package, and potentially better than the 'Whereis' one I am subscribed to. I will use it for a bit, and then drop some feedback to the site. We now just have to hope it doesn't go the way of Amaze and Nav4all etc.

Cheers
