Cingular 8100 --- BG?
Please Login to Remove!
I have read all of the posts about possible/probable release dates. It seems TMO will release on Sept. 12. And it seems there will be an exclusive period before Cingular gets the 8100 -- anywhere between 30 to 90 days. Can anyone confirm a release date for Cingular? Thanks!
BTW, BG, I read the crap on HOFO and I am with you! Idiots!

yea itll be redesigned by then too, you know cingular, always has a different color, but im not too terribly excited about it, i would love the 8700 with a media player, not too thrilled about the camera, thats what canon's are for

if you buy an 8100 youll have to wait 90 days to get it unlocked by tmo or come up with a reason to get it unlocked, like say moving out of the area, or pay someone online to do it, if they can. i bet it will be around 400 w/o a contract, when i was using an 8700g on cingular everything worked fine, but the "cingular browser" had a tmo symbol, but other than that, it will all work out fine.

And it will be even longer than that before a place like gsmphonesource.com will have the ability to remotely unlock it. Cingular's will be out by then (if ever).

I would think it's at least 90 days before Cingular gets it. Aren't these exclusives 3 months at least?

I have personally seen a Cingular branded 8100 already. It was black. There was no white on the keys though like the t-mobile version.
Our regional "data" guru had it to demo when I went to sales training a few weeks ago.... I just about creamed my pants when I saw it. He totally ****ed with me and wouldn't let me see it at first...
It's about the same size as the motorola Sliver with a slightly larger screen. The cool part is the scroll wheel has an up down sort of mouse toggle to it now I guess.. crazy!
I think he mentioned it should drop sometime in Q4, before XMAS. It won't be UMTS either, I specifically asked. :/

Uh...what scroll wheel would that be? The one that doesn't exist on the 8100 series? Or the one that you just made up?

Same question here too...because what he said makes no sense.

OK...that's my point.
You've "personally seen" the Cingular version, yet it's what he "told you" that you're using to defend your claim.
Stick to what you know. The rabid people on this board have little interest in mis-information.
They'll eat you.

Cingular Release Update?
Has there been anything "official" about Cingular's release of the 8100? Or, BG, do you have a release date? That's as good as official for me! Thanks!

I hope they don't continue to release devices with the awful grey/silver color - it's getting old and I never liked it from the beginning.

someone posted an internal document with Q4 2006, or maybe that was posted on Engadget. either way, we're looking at mid-to-late-Nov or early-to-mid-Dec release.

Cingular Release Update?
Original Post >> "I have read all of the posts about possible/probable release dates. It seems TMO will release on Sept. 12. And it seems there will be an exclusive period before Cingular gets the 8100 -- anywhere between 30 to 90 days. Can anyone confirm a release date for Cingular?"
Any news on Cingular's release? I am seriously considering getting an unlocked TMO, but I would like to know what kind of time savings I am looking at. If Cing is just around the corner, I will wait. If it is 4 months away, I will take the dive.
Anyone have any reliable news. How about some Cing reps? What do you hear? Thanks!!! jmc
