I have a 9900 bold and im trying to set up my blackberry protect. I have the app already, and i click to connect and all that happens is a green progress circle appears and it says "connecting to blackberry protect service... ". It does this for a long time and nothing else happens. I have no issues connecting app world, but i have no data and use wifi only could this be the issue? Any help would be great thanks!

You need a BB data plan to connect to BB Protect and other RIM services. I am surprised that you can get to App World as that is also a RIM service.

Do you have BBM and Email?

Well technically i have a very limited data plan, it includes facebook, twitter, other social media, and BBM. I can use app world and other services when i have wifi connection.

That is the problem. You need a full BB dataplan. The social media plan you are on won't work, as you have found out.

Im from Uruguay and i have the same phone (bb 9900) and the same problem but the diference it's that i have a data plan for my bb. I tried a lot of different solutions and nothing...the green circle appears and doesn't nothing else happen. Please i need an urgent solutions because i have al my contacts, my mails and messages of my last bb 9780 in the blackberry protect...and i lost everything!!!

Hi I am from Mauritius. The blackberry protect on my phone is not working, i have a bb torch 9810, each time it says "unable to connect, log in n try again". Someone told me to delete the blackberry protect and re-install it which i did. Now i can't re-install it as the apps world keep saying "log in n try again". I get notifications about upgrading facebook, twitter, bbm etc but i can't as it says "log in n try again" though am already log in. Please help me!!!! :( am in great difficulties

Ok so you missed the last post above yours and the one above from Dubdub.

Do you have a full Blackberry Data plan from your carrier? Not a standard data plan.

I have been having this problem as well. After numerous attempts at deleting and reinstalling, including OS, no luck. then as I was going through the options I notice the box that says prevent Protect from being deleted and it was checked. Although it was deleting with this checked it was obviously not a clean deletion. unchecked the box, deleted, rebooted, reinstalled and voila, problem was finally solved.
