Default Multiple BES Express installations

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a situation where I need to install 20 BES Express servers. So my thinking here was to run through the initial installation, up to the initial reboot, and then take a snapshot of the drive... and redeploy to the other 19 servers.

The only glitch in the plan, is the BES Server name that I had to enter right before the initial reboot phase.

Once I enter the BES Server name, when could or should I change the BES Server name, to make it effective during the other 19 installations?

Just trying to save some time, as to not have to run through the 19 other installations.

These are actually Google BES servers, so there is no local requirement of an Exchange server, as well as we are using an external SQL database, which we haven't gotten to during the initial install... that part comes after the reboot... so was hopeing the image would pick that up on the subsequent 19 installs.

Hope that all makes sense.

So, bottom line... I'm trying to determine if the fact of identifying the BES Server name during the initial installation (pre-reboot) will adversely affect the 19 other installs... and if so, any suggestions on how to remedy that?

Other than running through the full installation on the other 19 boxes.

Thanks all,
Dave

RIM does not support this type of cloning

you should do manual installs on all but do clone the OS prior to install

Gotcha... every part of the setup will be identical, up to that last question (BES Server name), was hoping I could get away with the clone method.

Thanks,
Dave
