Default OS 8220 4.6.0.174/4.6.0.309 MultiLanguage

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Kickstart (TM) 8220 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.309 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.309
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.6.0.174
  • Software Platform: 4.1.0.58
  • File name: 8220M_PBr4.6.0_rel309_PL4.1.0.58_A4.6.0.174_Rogers .exe
  • File size: 88.21MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8220 (make sure the device is not plugged into the PC before installing

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS version click here.

Note For Advanced Users Only: If you plan on deleting the cod file for pre-installed media your exterior LCD will not function correctly. This does not pertain to people doing normal installs. You will not be affected.

I just updated this OS. I doesnt say 310-410 anymore, it says ATT now woo hoo! So it will now say the correct carrier vs the last update. It seems to be a bit laggy but I am not sure since it updating my BIS still.

Seems very stable to me. Updated a few 8220s with it. Not laggy for me.

Key benefit that I've noticed is that there is no longer a lag when dialing a phone number.

The wife has is loaded on her T-Mobile 8220. We had a "reboot loop" issue earlier, but I think it had to do with a corrupted file on the MicroSD card. I fixed the error and the reboots went away.

The "T-Mobile" is showing on the network instead of the "310-410" listing.

Everything is working fine, but I can't seem to get the message notifications to display on the external display, or the clock. I am not sure where the setting is. I thought I remember seeing it somewhere in the .151 OS. What am I missing?

Try pulling the battery - I had an internal display problem on the 8220 (prior release) which was resolved that way.

I was able to resolve this issue. When I had loaded the operating system I had removed certain .jad files trying to free up memory. Once I put them back I was fine.

My phone arrived today and just finished loading it. So I'm not sure what the initial issues where but I see that the lagging issues were solved with this release.

Interesting since the TMobile upgrade website still advertises .151.

This is a feature of the Automatic BlackBerry Update feature in DM 4.7. It can be a benefit but also can cause problems when it installs hidden vendor.xml files, preventing you from upgrading to other, newer OS's.
