Default Update to V6.0 OS Problems

Please Login to Remove!

I just updated my Blackberry 8900 to the V6.0 OS - it took approx. 1 hour to complete. When it rebooted, it would not turn on. Does anyone have a solution to this problem. When I called Rogers, she told me to plug it in, take the battery out, wait a minute, put the battery back in. It still did not come back!!! Although most info is saved to the card, I'm afraid I will lose everything else!!!! Please help!!!!!

Where did you find the OS 6 for the 8900?

Got a link?

The update notification came from RIM. The link is valid, as I subscribe to updates. This is the first time I have had an issue with anything that I've downloaded from this site.

As far as I knew, the 8900 wasn't on the list for OS6. Didn't think it had the horsepower and memory to run it, but maybe a hybrid version would work.

And usually the carrier's release the OS, not directly from RIM.

Yea, you're just confused about what you got. It's very very unlikely it was an OS 6 file.

If so, you're the first. And like Dub stated, RIM doesn't send the OS upgrade notification.

Maybe a friend is playing a joke on you?

First of all, I am NOT confused about what I got. The email came directly from RIM, it is from the Blackberry website. The update was: Blackberry V 6.0 & Blackberry Device Software Update V5.0. It has now stopped my phone from working at all -- I came to this forum to ask for any help in correcting the problem - I am not stupid & I read the information supplied. RIM DOES send out update emails for software, if you register to receive them.

Not 100% sure, but that may refer to Blackberry V 6.0 Desktop Software and V 5.0 Device Software. Can you double check?
