Red face phone not allowed MM6

I was left with the BB curve by a couple that was deeply indebt to me, they have disappeared more than a year ago and I now want to give this phone to my son, How do I clear this code..... MM6

The code "phone not allowed MM6" is often indicative of the device having been reported lot or stolen.
