when you are on your home screen, hold the back button (the little arrow to the left of the end call button.

Bad etiquette to add a new question to an existing thread.

In any event, the 8220 Flip is Edge only. Not 3G.

EDGE downloads at about 80-90 kbps. Nothing you can do to speed it up. You can not ever get 3G on an 8220.

It is possible that at work it is on a WiFi network. EDGE, by definition, is slow.

my son just told me that I hijacked this thread, my lord...I am so sorry. So I bought a good phone, that will be slow getting on line and downloads (ringtone etc). Edge is slow, but I cannot get any faster. I want interweb, the lst ringtone is still downloading...can I use my laptop and a cable or something to do this....

If the WiFi indicator in the upper right hand corner is bright white, then you are using WiFi.

Using "Google" I found this - http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartp...b8220_gprs.pdf

Also look in BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ

Searching and doing a bit of research will be a very good start.
