Just what exactly does the latest OS Update do for the Tour on VZW? Is it worth it to upgrade?

Honestly, it really, truly depends on you.

Generally speaking, some are going to advise, If it ain't broke, don't fix it. In other words, if you don't have any complaints, don't bother. That's often good advice depending on the individual.

My opinion is I'm always, on balance, happy that I upgraded. But on the other hand, when I upgrade, I go from, say 4.2 to 4.5, which means the upgrade brings new functionality. I haven't really bothered with newer versions of the basically same OS version, say 4.5.X to 4.5.Y. But that's me.

The upgrade from 4.7.1.40 to 4.7.1.61 fixed the following issues for me:

Battery life
Bluetooth volume
Responsiveness

If you haven't had these problems, it's probably just a hour of your life that you'll never get back.

From 4.7.1.40 to 4.7.1.61 - do it. .40 had lags that you wont find in .61

Fixed a few bugs for me. One thing that annoyed me with .40 is that the phone would still play the tone (for messages and such) even if configured to only vibrate in the holster. That was fixed.

I actually did it, then a week later went back. As it took my battery life down drastically. Otherwise I had no problems with either.

With .65 out, there may be other issues resolved

If you're upgrading from the original .40, then do it.
If you have already upgraded to something like .57 and you're not having any issues, skip it.

I'm running .57 and everything is great. I'm waiting until there is something earth-shattering, or until OS 5.0 is officially released.

It deleted my contact and blackberry messagener contacts, other than that i dont see the difference

Always run a backup before installing a new OS... or anything for that matter.

I may go ahead and upgrade. I've noticed that the little box w/clock appears alot more often and locks up. Of course I'll have to redo my enterprise activation which i suppose being on BES is why I cant upgrade OTA. Message says no upgrades available unless VZW isn't offering OTA.
