My company just implemented the 30 min lockout on all our corporate BBs. That means if after 30 mins being idle, the BB will require a password to get in. I am fine with that.

Here's the problem, when it's locked and people call me and I answer it, I normally go to my Main Screen or use Alt Tab to find my Bluetooth to turn it on. I do this to minimize battery consumption because I don't wear my earpiece on me until I get or make a call. So with this lockout, I can't get to the BT to turn it on. Anyone know how to deal with this problem?

if you company locked it there isnt a way i dont think to get past the lockout to answer phone calls...

That has nothing to do with what he's asking.

With your phone locked and ringing, you can still answer calls. You don't need to enter a password to answer a call.

As to the issue at hand. How often do you use your BB, infernox? I get about 150-200 e-mails a day, and can get all the way through the day with my Bluetooth on. Are you able to charge it every night? Or while at work? Bluetooth, while draining, is not such a battery drain that you can't leave it on for the day.

And, I might add, if your BB is idle for 30 minutes at a time, you're probably not using it enough to worry about the Bluetooth being much of a battery drain.

You can leave the Bluetooth on the phone on, and keep the headset on standby, and accomplish what you're looking to do.

No. It's an IT policy on his BES. His BES admin controls it. It's for security.

To answer your question, IT policies are put in place to protect content and data. Also, they're often used to prevent certain BB options from being able to be used, such as outgoing calls, etc.

Why would a company disable corporate e-mail use? What would be the point of providing company BBs if they can't get e-mail?

Yep you are right on the spot on my question. I'll take your advice and just keep my BB's BT on while my BB headset remains idle until I need it.

Here's another add-on to this problem. While I am on the phone (when it's security locked) and someone calls and ask me for another phone #, I can't access any other application (Address book) to look up the number. Is there anyone to enter my password to unlock the system while I am on the phone?
