Google Maps 2.2 has GPS, but it don't make it plainly obvious. It basically adds an arrow to the little blue dot when GPS is working.
An easy way to test it is to go into Options->Advanced Options->GPS, make sure GPS Services is set to "Location ON", Location Aiding is Enabled, and then hit the menu key (BB logo) and select "Refresh GPS". You must be outside, but if it can find your location, then it's working.

Thanks man, i found a fix for it in the Beta You Then Me forum and i got it to work

Did this install last night; aside from losing several of my PIN contacts (my groups are now all showing "0/# , as if it realizes I had # contacts there, but I can't access them, I'll try restoring from the Desktop manager) everything seems to have gone off without a hitch, though it did take quite some time. Now to wait for my HTML email capabilities.
On the other hand, Google Maps is working fine, as are all my third-party apps (xPlayer, Opera Mini, WebMessenger, Gmail, etc). In fact, a couple of them seem to be working much faster than before. =]

Did you get GPS working in BB Maps? If not, then you need to check out the thread in Beta You Than Me on how to get it working. It's also discussed earlier in this thread

Worked fine for Vodafone NZ customers... keeps the Vlive APN and browser and is still compatible with Compass (NZ GPS) by Yapp!

Good info, but my 8310 does not have "GPS Services" as a subset of "GPS." Where can I find this in my 8310 furshizzle?

Can I ask some advice on this process as I'm just nervous about it.
I have read the whole thread from start to finish.
Would this process seem a sensible step by step how to
1 Do a back up of my phone
2 upgrade Desktop and Device Manager to the latest ones.
3 download and install the OS as per JSander's post # 1 and follow those instructions
4 also follow the memory maximisation thread as per John Clarks thread.
sit back and try it out.

Yes... good process, except.
1. The upgrade process will do a backup automatically, in your step #3.
2. If you already have Desktop Manager version 4.2, Service Pack 2, or DM version 4.3, you are fine, no need to upgrade anything there. (The step to upgrade your Desktop Manager is written in the process because so many older BlackBerry users may still be using DM ver. 4.1 or below).
3. and 4. To do the "John Clark memory optimization", insert that in the process after downloading and installing the new OS to your PC... and before you plug your BB to the USB and open DM.
Good luck, it is not a complicated process as long as you follow the instructions as written. Post back here if you have questions.

Hmm...that's weird. I have it as an option. Try refreshing the GPS info at least. If it works, then your GPS is still functioning. If not, go step by step through the thread on how to fix it. It took me a couple of times to get it right since it's not the most straightforward process.
Basically, if AT&T didn't sabotage the LBS service book, then this wouldn't be an issue.

I just have a quick question on Documents To Go.
Do we actually have to purchase the Premium Edition? To be able to use the rest of the features?

So, i upgraded to the 4.5 OS and everything seems to be working great with the exception of MMS. ever since the new OS i can't send pics, can receive them just fine. It shows its sending and then the message appears in my MMS outbox with the checkmark next to it, but it never gets to the recipients phone.... anyone experience this? or have any suggestions?

Long time reader, first time poster. I used this great tutorial on Monday and have had no problems yet. I just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T on Saturday and installed this new OS on Monday. I had the phone 2 days, lol. I've been reading this forum long enough to know that these tutorials are spot on. Good Job!
To purple_50, I haven't experienced that yet but will definitely try it out and let you know!

Just tried it and the recipient received it just fine. This person was on Sprint and I'm on AT&T.

Cool, thanks for checking that out. I will keep fooling with it and see if i can find out whats up with it.
Tried sending a pic to another contacts phone, works fine. So no issue with the pic messaging after all... thanks for the info though

Why is there a gap between my address book entries something akin to double line spacing in a word document.
